It's a moment that was sports at its best as a transformative moment of grief and healing all at one moment. Seeing the Mets players hugging all the Marlins was great too. Last night was one of those things that sends chills up one's spine.

Kudos to the Arizona DBacks for leaving this on the message board for Miami arriving in DC to play this weekend.

Great message, but I just... I gotta ask.

Who wrote that, or whose idea was it to choose the gentleman who has the worst handwriting on the team?

I hardly follow Baseball but seeing the players gathered round the mound all wearing No.16, and then the home run by Dee Gordon while pretty much balling his eyes out... It's a sad, tragic but amazing and joyful moment all at the same time. A real mix of emotions.

It's sad how it takes such a tragic incident to bring people together like that, & create amazing moments out of it as well.

I honestly think that's the least important aspect of the whole thing. You can read every single word.

Of course. Don't think for one second I am acting inconsiderately to the gesture.

It happens. And they initially said no signs of drugs or alcohol.

But yeah, I should have been smarter.

Yeah the whole alcohol thing doesn't surprise me. What does set my ears up is the fact that this comes out NOW because honestly, finding alcohol in the system or as in one report that came out "smelling of alcohol" is something that'd come out pretty much right away. One has to wonder if the authorities decided to withhold that piece of information until a later date. It'd have completely changed the context of how we mourned his loss in the days that followed.

Alcohol or no alcohol, its still sad.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Once it came out that he (and I'll say allegedly because we weren't there and it's not a fact) allegedly had gone on the boat after getting into a fight with his girlfriend and left a bar it became clear what the missing pieces were.
