Yeah that's just unacceptable as a reason. You don't leave your best pitcher hanging for what might have been.

Ubaldo looks absolutely awful. He was throwing basically BP fastballs to MLB hitters.

Great game to open up the postseason with. Let's hope we get another equally great game tomarrow.

Like others I'm just gonna assume Britton hurt himself warming up or something until officially confirmed otherwise. If Britton wasn't hurt and was healthy then that's just an unexplainable decision by Showalter. If I'm Baltimore I fire Showalter after this. As long as Britton wasn't hurt or anything of course. If Britton was healthy then that's just one of the worst and most foolish decisions I've seen. Almost as bad as the Seahawks throwing the ball at the 1 with one of the best RB's in the league in their backfield (at the time) in Marshawn Lynch back in Super Bowl 49.

EDIT: Just saw its confirmed that Britton was avalible. Just wow.

Ubaldo had absolutely no idea where any of his pitches were going. Re-watching that Edwin at bat, it could not have been placed on a tee any better for him.

Zach Britton was "fine" according to Buck in the postgame presser. "He was available."

Lucky for the Jays that Buck managed like it was 1995. #gottagetdemsaves

I will tell you, I have always liked Buck Showalter, his demeanor, being straight forward, not being a bull****ter. This is just tough to swallow, I'm stunned.

Buck Showalter outsmarted himself by waiting for a lead.

Same here, he was one of the few managers I felt made consistently smart decisions. This literally just blows my mind.

Buck Showalter is a guy who I've always respected. He's a guy i've always wanted to manage the Jays. It just sucks to see him make such a bonehead mistake.

I didn't see...was Britton even warming up in the pen? What a terrible decision to not have your best pitcher on the mound in that situation.

I don't believe so. I never saw him even in the pen.

We could argue Britton should have been brought in earlier, but when you have the choice of Britton or Ubaldo left at your disposal, I mean good god.

I'm worried about Buck's mental health.

it felt like when in the regular season when the bad managers save the best reliever just so they can get a save! in a elimination game holy Toledo....
