    Bill Buckner's ESPN interview...

Did anyone listen to it? I heard a brief part of it, I think all of it because there wasn't much to it. He just more or less said that he's gotten the message that he's forgiven and his response was "for what"? I totally agree with him. I don't see how this guy can be blamed for all that he's been blamed for. The Red Sox still had to give up another run during game six and they still had game seven to play. Bill Buckner's fault, no, not at all. Its like blaming the entire World Series on Jeff Suppan's baserunning, which was probably the best thing I've seen in a long time (for a Cardinals *****).

Exactly. There's this myth that had Buckner made the play, the Sox would've won the series. Not so. The game was tied, had he made the play the game would've gone into extra innings. Even so, there was still a Game 7 and the Red Sox still had a chance.

It's reallly unfortunate that all the frustrations and anger were concentrated on Buckner. The guy had a long, solid career, yet he's remembered for one play in one game. I don't blame him for being a little bitter.

You're right. I forgot that the game was tied when Buckner's blunder happened. That makes it even more rediculous that people blame him for the 1986 World Series.

That's one of the biggest blunders of all-time, but would it have made a difference in the game? Probably not.

I guess Bill Buckner can rest easy now.

I understand why Buckner's frustrated but at the same time I feel like he could bury the "demons" if he showed up at the parade and rally. Most Red Sox fans have forgiven him (trust me we're still in a very good mode right now) and heck I betcha he would get a huge ovation if he showed up.

He was asked on ESPN and he said he had no interest.

First of all, you're not a Red Sox fan so stop trying to act like one. Second, Bill Buckner has no demons. There is nothing for true Red Sox fans to forgive him for. We did not lose the 1986 world series because of Bill Buckner. Just like we didn't lose last years ALCS because of Wakefield. By the time Buckner's play came around they had already blown a save twice, including a wild pitch that allowed the tying run to score in the bottom of the 10th after the Sox had taken a 5-3 lead.

The man has been hounded by the media since then and made the scapegoat for the fictional curse that everyone loved to talk about. True Red Sox fans never blamed him for the loss to begin with. It was just a convenient image for the media to use to symbolize the Red Sox woes.

EDIT - The Sox also left 14 men on base in this game.
