The forearm is usually where the pain is referred...you see it all the time (I'm a Braves fan...I know TJS).

I have to say, we this every year as camps start up and I don't understand it. Is this a tear that happens as they start throwing again? Was it torn at the end of last year and he didn't realize it? I just don't see how you go an entire winter and not realize there is something wrong...I wasn't a pitcher, so it has always struck me as odd when this happens.

I hope beyond hope he's okay and he doesn't need TJS...I hate when we lose pitchers.

My guess is that it happened last year, but the pain went away over Winter and now it's back.

Captain, it may be time to hang em up... Can't stay healthy anymore.

Mets third baseman David Wright was diagnosed with a shoulder impingement earlier this week, and he told reporters today that a second opinion confirmed the diagnosis of an impingement and instability in his right shoulder (via Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News). More troubling was the fact that Wright said there’s no time frame for his return to baseball activities. Per the New York Post’s Mike Puma (on Twitter), Wright says he is embarking on an “aggressive, time-consuming rehab” of the shoulder.

As much as I hate to say it the Mets are a better team without him at this point. Reyes, Rivera and Flores are much better options at this point.

Its time to hang it up Captain.

Looks like David Price is gonna need Tommy John surgary unless he does a tanaka, the Red Sox are becoming the yankees overpaying for old Vets who are past it and injury prone

Who else do we have that is old and injury prone besides Hanley? And I wouldn't even classify Price as injury prone. He's pitched in 30+ games every year since his second year in the league except 2013 when he pitched 27 games including 4 complete games.

I completely agree with you Price isn't necessarily old it's the usage on his arm through the years. I think the way he was leaned on when he was in Toronto after the trade deadline in 2015 may have manifested itself now. Price's pitching mechanics are something that was due to cause him arm troubles at some point as well.

I like Price a lot and hope he can pull a Tanaka but I doubt it. You go see Doc Andrews because you need surgery. Period, end, stop.

His average IP per year isn't that high though. He averages 227 per year. It's a little high but not astronomically high. For references to other Aces, Kershaw is at 227, Scherzer is at 214, King Felix is at 229, Sale is at 201, Lester is at 217, Verlander is at 226, Bumgardner is at 221. So his usage really isn't that high.

I don't think Porcello has NEARLY the year he did last year so the Red Sox are suddenly pretty shaky in my eyes.

On MLB Network last night they said no one has thrown more innings, pitches, or faced more batters over the last 3 years than David Price. I didn't verify that, but I'd say his usage over the last few years has been high.

I also found it interesting that they said he felt the pain when he started throwing his slider and that he always has a twinge/pain when he starts throwing his slider, but this was a bit more than he's used to. I hope it's nothing...but it doesn't sound good.
