    AL MVP GOES TO:

    Vlad With 21 of the 28 first-place votes, Vladimir Guerrero picked up his first MVP award today.
    Gary Sheffield received five first-place votes and finished second. Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz were third and fourth, splitting the other two first-place votes. This makes it nine straight years that the MVP has come from an AL West club. the

        Anyway - he def. deserved this. Was very consistant in his first year in the AL, and is one HELLUVA hitter.. He's not too shabby in the field, either.

            I would've given it to Sheffield. The guy played hurt most of the season and put up monster numbers.

            Anyways congrats to Vlad.

              I would've given it to Sheffield. The guy played hurt most of the season and put up monster numbers.

                            I can say Manny Ramirez put up better numbers pretty much across the board (OPS, SLG, OBP, BB, RBI, HR, 2B).

                            Sabermetrically, the 2 were almost identical in RC/27, with a slight edge to Vlad.

                            It's too bad Ortiz/Ramirez took votes from each other, because Ramirez really did have an MVP caliber season.
