Mike Zunino is looking like an actual major league hitter lately. I don't know how to process this. The pessimist in me knows it's likely an aberration but man it would be really nice if he could be decent.

Mookie had a single, double, and a homer going into his AB in the 9th. A triple away from the cycle, and he...hit a home run.
Come on bro, couldn't take just a *little* off of it?
I'm being completely sarcastic. Betts' night was 4 for 5 with 2 homers, a double and a single.Boston Red Sox

Nah, the Twins are still in 1st place with a -28 run differential, so it'd be them. If you think the Nats bullpen is bad, watch the Twins for awhile.Comment

Relieved to see the youth movement continue for the A's. Called up Brugman last weekend to provide some kind of offense in CF since Rajai has stunk.
Calling up Matt Chapman today to take over at 3B, and DFA Plouffe (on his birthday, ouch).
Jed Lowrie having a very good year is probably the only reason Franklin Barreto hasn't got the call. I'm sure we'll see him after Lowrie gets moved at the trade deadline.
They also relieved pitching coach Curt Young of his duties today.
I'd rather watch a team struggle filled with youngsters than a tram struggle with a bunch of vets. At least there's hope with youth.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Remind me again...did they trade Shaw to Milwaukee or was he a FA? If they traded him, what did they get? I ask because Shaw has been putting up pretty decent numbers with the Brew Crew and given Boston's hole at 3B he would look pretty nice there right now."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Dear Yankees,
Thank you for giving us Ben Gamel, for nothing, kid has raked all year, .342 AVG, with very few K's, and good defense. Our future OF looks very bright, with Gamel, Haniger, and Kyle Lewis. Gamel has to be close to qualifying for the AVG lead.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

Pineda hasn't done anything since that trade. Plus, that was our old idiot GM who made that deal, and he was in the business of getting robbed in trades. Now we have a GM who seemingly strikes gold with every deal he makes. He traded an underachieving pitcher and replacement level SS for 2 All Star caliber players.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

I wouldn't say Pineda hasn't done anything since that trade. That title belongs to Montero.
But Gamel was a good get. Not even sure where he fits on the Yankees right now anyway.

Yeah he was traded for Tyler "Not pitching until 2018" Thornburg, straight up I believe. Thornburg was supposed to be a shutdown set-up man, but here we are. I'd take Plouffe over the Sandoval/Rutledge/Holt platoon most days of the week.Boston Red Sox
