Oh ok. I have a different idea of what moving parts means in this context then.Comment

Good heavens...Jose Ramirez is one of those guys who pitches great when it doesn't matter, but give him a lead and he really struggles. How do you come in and throw 5 straight balls before giving up a tater?"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. More I see if this Camargo kid, more I like him.

Nice to see the Jays avoid the sweep today. Hopefully the offense can get things going again. I said it before and i'll say it again but the vibe I get is of a team that's going to hover around .500 all year long and never really break out of it. I'd LOVE to be wrong about that though.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Amazing that the same guy (Phillips) got the game winning hit and knocked in the same guy (Camargo) two games in a row...awesome stuff. Yes, I have loved Camargo since spring training...he could be a really good one."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. In all fairness, and I've been brutally critical of the Nats broadcast teams over the past few years, this TV crew for the Phillies is absolutely undesirable. Tom McCarthy has always struck me as a bit "Magoo" and now that he has higher level ex-players with whom he broadcasts, he acts more smitten than ever. When I hear John Kruk, it feels like I'm watching the game at a bar and there's a fully homer-ific fan sitting there who won't shut up about his team. Schmidtty is okay, but I can take or leave him. They really need to bring Larry Andersen over from radio, corral him just a bit in his commentary and he would be terrific I think. But this present arrangement sucks as much as the team.Comment

I really hope that Moz doesn't try to sell off part of the farm to try and get into the playoffs this season. Even if we somehow made it, we're not going anywhere. This team is inconsistent and just doesn't have it this year.
Let's play out the year, assess the ball club and look forward to making moves during the winter to be a better, more competitive team next year.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Bronson Arroyo admitted he's been pitching with a bum shoulder hopped up on cortisone and he probably made his last start for the Reds.
You had an awesome career Bronson. One of my favorite Reds. You showed flashes of your old self, but it's time to hang it up.

I don't know if you've watched SNY Mets broadcasts but I've a feeling Mike Schmidt's style would be very similar to Keith Hernandez. If you've heard enough of Keith would say their style is similar? I ask because I've heard Schmidt talk in the booth at times (though never as an employee of a team) and he seems pretty conversational and casual like Hernandez tends to be.

Re: 6/12 - 6/25 Game Discussion Thread
Anthony Rizzo has been a wrecking ball since moving to the leadoff spot in Zobrist's absence. I know the Schwarber leadoff man thing has sort of gone down as a failure, but it makes you wonder about more experimentation with things that don't exactly seem orthodox (like sluggers leading off). I don't think Rizzo's long-term future is as a leadoff man or anything, but it's really something to start off each game this way: he's 10 for 23 with 3 HR and juuuust missed a 4th homer by about 5 feet just now (not to mention the "foul ball" thing which was momentarily ruled a homer a couple games back).
Gotta get me some Rizzo Wrap too, lol.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 06-19-2017, 08:09 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment
