It isn't a surprise to see Cole gone. He underperformed, was billed as the staff ace and never lived up to it. A solid pitcher, wish him luck in Houston. I think for the Pirates with Cole gone, they need to blow it up. Deal Harrison and sadly Cutch.

A couple days ago I read something saying 135 free agents and 35 days till first catchers and pitchers report. Unless we have a bunch of signings during spring training, that's like 4 signings a day. This **** has to get real soon.

I also heard on MLB Network radio... There's serious talks of creating a "Spring Training" for all FAs who havent signed yet, to work out, etc.

That's pretty insane that there are plans like that afoot but at least it would give some guys a chance to stay in shape unlike the situation that befell Stephen Drew.

As for the Marlins thing, Derek Jeter is making Michael Jordan's foibles as an NBA owner look like nothing. At least in the beginning guys wanted to play for MJ whereas it seems NO ONE wants to play for Jeter.

If it gets real late, they just need a manager or three and they could form some type of roving split squad free agent teams.

How about all the unsigned FA's form a team managed by Joe Girardi and replace the Marlins?

                  Not a bad roster:

Rotation - Arrieta, Darvish, Hellickson, Lynn, Miley

Bullpen - Holland, Liriano, Perkins, Rosenthal, Storen, Street

                  1B - Hosmer

                  2B - Walker

                  SS - Hardy

                  3B - Moustakas

                  LF - Jay

                  CF - Cain

                  RF - Martinez

                  C - Lucroy

Bench - Frazier, Phillips, Young, Avila, A. Escobar, Bruce

I think that 25 man roster would finish 2nd in the NL East...might even challenge the Nats.

Darvish trims potential teams to The Cubs, Yankees, Astros, Rangers and Twins and a mystery team not named... My guess is Milwaukee

Hopefully with Bruce locked up me and fellow Jays fans won't have to keep hearing his name connected with Toronto.

Uhm...it would be weird if you still heard his connected to Toronto, wouldn't it?
