Royals extend qualifying offers to Lorenzo Cain, Mike Moustakas, and Eric Hosmer.

Marlins are informing other teams they will listen to offers for Giancarlo Stanton, Dee Gordon, and Martin Prado.

Jays officially declined the option for Jose Bautista

In other news, they're once again linked to Jay Bruce. They obviously need a RF now, so wouldn't mind adding his bat there. Though hopefully they can add a real speedy/contact hitting guy to play LF if they get Bruce for RF.

What a deal, eh! 6 mill for arguably the best player in the game! and 5.125m per year for a 29 year old player that can play virtually every position on the field. This time next year will not be the same story, lol!

Mark Polishuk over at MLBtraderumors doubts that JB can drum up a contract offer this off-season. I agree, not at anything close to 18m, but around 8-10m, maybe. That is a huge decrease in salary from what he's received over the last few years, but a huge stretch nonetheless in my opinion; he sure scuffled in '17, one that may have revealed the end of a career.

Honestly, I'm shocked that anyone thinks, or would give, JB anything over $3M.
But this is baseball where money is printed, so I'm sure this report is right. Someone will give him $8+ to be a bench player.

I still see a team wanting him. DH role specifically with chances to play 1B if needed. Sure, he might be a. 200 or so hitter, but he can still get a team 20+hrs. A team with high contact numbers looking to add power could have interest.

He was in the first half. He was inconsistent and a home run magnet. He really turned it around in the second half though. Looking very Tanaka like and then as you said "
                  peaked in the playoffs "

Hopefully that carries on to next year.

Yankees need to be all in on Otani. No lowballing bull**** like they did on Moncada. Hopefully they reel him in. As I think he's a once in a generation player.

K's are up, BB's are down. His once elite plate discipline wasn't there last year. Had his power just disappeared, then he'd be fine, but it looks like he's striking out more, walking less and making less contact. Maybe if he goes to a different park and re-works his approach, he could be useful.

Just a change of scenery could help too. Everyone knows what to expect out of the Jays lineup, so they know how to approach them. Put Bautista in a lineup that's not focused on power, and you can surround him with guys who get on base and he can drive in rather than having to hit solo homers like so many do on the Jays.

Personally, I think the best scenario for Bautista is if he gets a minor league deal or something in the range of 3 mil for one year on a team that should contend he'll take it. I wouldn't doubt that Cleveland would maybe give him a chance what with the Encarnacion connection. It's not like Bautista's plate discipline is COMPLETELY shot but yeah, all the numbers have gone down considerably. A change of scenery and different coaching might help him.

Cardinals to discuss Stanton and Yelich with the Marlins.

Sounds like they're willing to include a top young arm to get Stanton.

If I'm the Marlins that better be plural...the discussion would have to be starting with Reyes, Weaver, and then go from there.

But will teams be willing to give up 2 top arms (like Reyes + Weaver) when you know the Marlins can only get to their reported $90 million payroll goal if they unload Stanton? It only takes one team to really want him though, can't imagine a shortage of interest.
