Re: 2017-2018 MLB Hot Stove Thread
Hot Stove seems to be FINALLY heating up. Just took until January 25th and 26th, haha.
Cain and Yelich yesterday to Brewers and Escobar back with the Royals today.

And let's have Dexter Fowler sign a lifetime contract extension with the Cards as well as do a Yankees-Cards trade for Stanton, eh?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Brewers are reportedly open to trading Broxton and hesitant to deal Santana. Said they are open to the possibility of having Braun play first base at times.

Braun's arm isnt much better. I wont be expecting many OF assists from The Crew this year. Theyre going to have great Range, but not much for arms.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Bucks | Milwaukee BrewersComment

I dont think Broxton would have much value in terms of bringing in a top half of the rotation starter like they are reportedly seeking. I'd also think Santana is too good of a bat to not have in the lineup everyday. Hoping something gets done with Indians to bring over Carrasco or Salazar. They could possibly get Salazar straight up for Santana since Indians are in need of a corner OF upgrade and a RH bat, Carrasco would probably cost Santana + 1 or 2 top ten prospects though.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Bucks | Milwaukee BrewersComment

Re: 2017-2018 MLB Hot Stove Thread
awesome move to get Yelich by the brewers. considering he has 5 years on his deal and is only 26 I would've given up a ton for that. so any package would've been light for me.
I still think this puts them in fringe WC status and maybe these moves puts them over the Cardinals. it gets interesting if Cubs miss on Darvish.
nice to see some action though.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Good move for the Brewers...this is the kind of team that should be making a deal for Yelich. They are only a piece or two short of being a legit contender, so a move where you give up prospects makes a ton of sense.
The NL Central is going to be a lot of fun...the Cardinals, the Brewers, and the Cubs are all legit.
It's crazy how quickly fortunes change in baseball...the Cubs may be the 3rd best team in their division now (pending their own moves)."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Fair enough...I don't think there is a wrong answer, but I'm looking at it from the standpoint that the Cubs have done NOTHING about their pitching. Of course, if they sign Darvish and bring back Arrieta I'd take them...but as of today, as the rosters are right now, I think the Brewers and the Cardinals are better."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. That being said, the top 3 in that division are going to be battling it out all year long. I don't think the dust will settle until the last couple games of the year.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

That’s not accurate. Certainly they haven’t done enough because they still have to address that starter situation, but they’ve made several moves with regards to the bullpen. Not knock your socks off moves, but there’s been activity. Personally I’m extremely nervous about this holding off on everything for Harper strategy because if they don’t get him, that’s going to be devastating to this club considering all the moves they’ve passed on to wait for him.

In Spring Training news (yes, it's getting close), the Braves have invited Ronald Acuna, Mike Soroka, and Kolby Allard to Spring Training. I don't expect any of the 3 will make the opening day roster, but I expect Acuna will be up within a month (service time decision) and Soroka/Allard could get a September call up. It will be interesting to see both of them get to pitch to major leaguers, however, in Spring Training."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do.
