The Cubs fan in me is quite pleased about this. Not that it makes the Cardinals substantively stronger or weaker, but Grichuk has been a bit of a Cub-killer. Yes to the AL for him, please.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Pretty meh article, IMO. Basically says "the Marlins aren't crazy to ask for Acuna (duh), Braves should hold onto him because Yelich doesn't help them right now (duh), Acuna could be a really good player (duh), and Yelich is a pretty good player (duh)". I haven't learned anything new here...Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2017-2018 MLB Hot Stove Thread
The Jays are among 1 of 6 teams in on Yellich discussions. Apparently the starting point for such a trade is Bo Bichette. I'd be a little bummed out but I think trading him wouldn't hurt in the long run because Yellich is quite talented and is controllable for 5 more years. The issue is, it won't be just a one for one swap and the Marlins are eying other players in the Jays farm system that I don't think they exactly want to ship out.
I think for once, Jays just gotta keep their guys and actually develop a proper team. Look how many good guys have come through the system and were either traded before making it to the big leagues, or just shipped off a few years into their careers who went on to be better elsewhere.Comment

Listening to MLB Network radio on my way home from work, Casey Stern from Inside Pitch predicts starting early next week market is gonna be very very active.
He said at some point GMs are gonna break.

Cards trade Grichuk to Jays for Dominic Leone and Connor Greene

I'm a big fan of the Grichuk trade. I know he's had some issues in STL but maybe a change of scenery will do wonders for him. I could see him rounding into form as he will undoubtedly play every day in RF. The Jays OF is pretty much set in stone now as they'll have Pearce, Granderson, Pillar, Teoscar Hernandez, Anthony Alord, Carrera and Grichuk all vying for spots.
The loss of Leone hurts a bit but I think he'll do well in STL. Connor Greene who the Cards also acquired has a live arm and great promise. He had a bit of a snag last year trying to refine his mechanics and add to his game. I think going to an organization like STL where they do wonders with pitchers will help him quite a bit.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Still don't believe Gregerson will be the closer, not sure they'll add a bigger name I just think Lyons is more likely if no big name is added.Favorite Teams:

I always felt Grichuk should have been included in the Marcell Ozuna deal personally.Comment

This deal has to get done. He really has nowhere else to go. He isn't go back to AZ they can't afford it. SF is set in the corners now. Unless some mystery team steps up Boston is the only place for him to go really.Comment

Hoping for a mystery team to swoop in. I love JD. Really don't want him to go to Boston.Comment
