So one of the snags in the Manny Machado to the Dbacks is the Orioles want Jon Duplantier, but he hasn't pitched since May 27th.

They've asked the Dodgers about Urias and Alvarez.

They've also asked the Braves about their top pitching prospects as well as Cleveland's top prospects.

Well, Orioles better not get fleeced in this deal, they are about to suck for a long time (even more!) and this is the first move to set them on the right track toward a rebuilding process.

        So ask away.

Sounds like teams are looking at Mike Moustakas as an option at 1B.

Orioles asked the Braves for Ian Anderson and Max Fried regarding Manny Machado.

I really hope the Cardinals don't do anything silly in terms of going after Machado (not that I think the O's would send him here) or Moustakas.

We are not going to win a World Series this year. Too inconsistent. Keep your prospects and get back building through the farm system with free agents brought in here and there.

And of course, lets find a team to take Dexter Fowler.

I think it's time for Detroit to send him out and get as much as they can for him to help the rebuild.
While I do agree with trading him if the right offer comes along, I'm pretty sure the Tigers will be good before 2023, when Fulmer is a free agent.

Iglesias and Liriano are the guys Detroit has to move at the deadline. They do have some other decent trade chips with more years of control as well.

Isn't this his 3rd year in the bigs? Did he sign a long-term deal recently?

The Orioles have received offers for star shortstop/third baseman Manny Machado from seven teams, according to the Baltimore Sun.In "order of appeal," the offers are from the Dodgers, D-backs, Brewers, Phillies, Braves, Indians and Cubs. MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal tweeted Sunday morning that sources tell The Athletic the Dodgers

Interesting to see the Cubs on that list. Maybe Theo just playing games trying to raise the price, or just making sure the Brewers don't get him....

The Cubs are last "in order of appeal." I don't mind Theo lowballing them and seeing what happens. The more I think about it, the less I think Machado is a fit for the Cubs. If Heyward is gonna hit now, then KB is stuck at 3B and Machado would have to play SS (with Addison Russell being traded). If Machado were an above average defensive SS, then ok. But that ship seems to have sailed with him playing the worst SS in baseball according to DRS (and it's not even close). The only other pathway is to trade Schwarber and move KB to LF. I have a feeling you'll have to pry Schwarber out of Theo's cold, dead hands though.

The only things I see the Cubs addressing is rental SP, high leverage RP, backup catcher.

hell, Fiers is even looking tradable, doubt he brings much back but the whole point of signing a guy like him is to hope he plays well and get anything for him while you can

Fiers actually has an extra year of team control, as does Martin. I'm not sure if it'll add much to Fiers' value, but it should to Martin's. Pretty low risk signings by Avila, if they sucked, then they could just be non-tendered and if they played well, that extra year of control would boost their trade value further. Heck, even Zimmermann has pitched well enough as of late, to the point where he could be moved in the offseason (with some salary eaten) when his NTC is downgraded to a modified NTC.

As for Fulmer, he becomes arbitration eligible for the first time next year, as a super-two player. He'll go through arbitration four times and then become a free agent. If the decide to hold onto him, the Tigers should consider an extension; buy out a couple free agent years on the reasonable in return for more money now for Fulmer.

And that is plenty for a possible rental. Still a high price to pay in my opinion.
