He took out catcher Elias Diaz while sliding and trying to break up a potential double play in a key spot. Diaz caught the ball to force Rizzo at home plate, but Rizzo slid hard into his plant leg and it caused Diaz to throw the ball away into RF (instead of getting the runner at first) helping the Cubs to catch up and ultimately take the lead later on.
Upon review, Rizzo appeared to be out at home by a lot, and although the umpiring crew on the field didn't see anything wrong with Rizzo's slide (and it was upheld that way on replay review), MLB came out the next day and said it was unnecessary and they should have ruled it a double play for interference by Rizzo. I think most neutral parties and non-Cubs fans also thought the slide looked a little...questionable and unnecessary. I certainly did. Not "dirty" exactly, but you could see how the Pirates would be mad.
So, that's why PNC Park is no friend of Rizzo right now. That and he's been wearing their pitching out.
