Surpising stat about Carlos Beltran

This verifies him as the best all-around player in the game today. He has 28 stolen bases and NO times caught stealing. This was the first time I saw this and it surprised me.

Those were his NL stats. He had 42 stolen bases and was caught 3 times overall.

Do people realize that he doesn't hit well for average and has never had an OPS above 1.000? He's a good all around player but I'll take Manny or Vlad any day.

I dont think that makes verifies him as the best overall player. I would rather have a Vlad or Manny who can hit for avg as well.

Stealing bases aren't what they used to be so really that's an overrated stat. I'd rather have a Vlad Guerrero on my team.

What's funny is that just a couple of years ago, everyone was saying that Beltran was one of the biggest underacheivers in the game, a five tool player who just couldn't seem to put it together. Amazing what a good year or two will do. I think he's highly overrated, at least by Boras. For him to be talking about a 10-year, $200 million deal is ludicrous.

I may take Vlad over Carlos, but not Manny... only because i'm taking defense into account. If Carlos stays in the NL, Jimmy Edmonds going to have stiff, STIFF competition for the Gold Glove this year.

Manny's offense more than makes up for an occasional error. His fielding isn't as bad as everyone thinks. He just makes some boneheaded plays that they like to show on sportscenter.
