Even though he’s no longer a Brave, I’m pretty happy to see Heyward being a productive hitter again.

Same, even though he's no longer a Brave. I still wear that jersey proudly.

Speaking of which, even though he's no longer a Pirate, I'm glad Barry Bonds gets to have his jersey retired on August 11th by the San Francisco Giants in front of that team.

          PFP's boys.

Unless that hit the runner, but Wilson was never going to get there anyway.

Oh never mind, Russell never should have thrown that ball.

              Re: 7/19 - 7/29 Game Discussion Thread

A-Rod calling the AL the "varsity" because of the trio of dominant teams seems kind of silly to me. The AL Central is crap outside of the Indians who have been just good enough to separate themselves from the pile of steaming garbage that is the 4 remaining teams. The Orioles are not competitive in the AL East giving Boston and New York 18 games against a glorified AAA team. The AL West is fairly competitive, however the Angels can't stay healthy and the Rangers are boring.

A few years ago when the NL had like 10 teams rebuilding we were talking about how boring the postseason race was going to be. But now the same thing has happened in the AL, and since Boston and New York are good again lets talk about how great the entire league is. One big reason the NL doesn't have teams with the same record as the top-3 is because of the quantity of good teams. All the teams that were rebuilding in 2016 (ATL, PHI, MIL, COL, ARZ) are at the point where they are ready to be competitive, which is making this an exciting race.

Ooo, tying run on deck? Better put in your closer to get him his save!

                      EDIT: Right on cue...

What a dumb ****ing statistic, or at least in terms of its value.

Also, Red Sox have the most wins ever going into the break. This season has bee super fun.
Update on this, apparently he chose #8 as a "tribute" to Baltimore and Cal Ripken, Jr.

Did he actually say that or is that based on the speculation by Jerry Hairston Jr? I just read his dog's name is Kobe.
