This is a tough position for me as a former pitcher. I was taught that part of my job was to make the batter uncomfortable in the box. I had many pitching coaches that preached the importance of moving a hitter's feet from time to time, especially if they were hot or had good swings on me. I don't know if that's what Urena was doing and the ball got away from him, or if he just hit Acuna on purpose (I haven't seen the replay).

I just looked up the HBP on youtube (gotta love the internet!) and that's absolutely classless. I can see the point that old timers like Mattingly or Hernandez make about this but there's a difference between throwing with maximum effort into a guy's elbow and hitting him on the back pocket. Hopefully MLB will see fit to suspend both Mattingly and Urena for this.

It was a clear intentional beaning. Where he hit him and the velocity he threw it at, then the fact that he threw his glove down and was ready to go made it clear what his intentions were.

I expect to hear nothing about "old school baseball mentalities!" and "backwards boring archaic baseball players" though. Not in this case.

I am so tired of baseball pitchers (sorry Jr, lol). They are the only ones who are "allowed" to show emotion, and if you're too good as a batter or flip a bat you get hit. Bunch of nonsense. He threw the ball as hard as he could at the guy because he's been destroying them.

Pitchers can take their fragile mentalities and kick rocks.

Now Atlanta will retaliate at some point and the whole dumb cycle starts again.

Now Atlanta will retaliate at some point and the whole dumb cycle starts again.

Freddie stayed in the presser that they needed the win and couldn't afford a starter out of the game when asked about retaliation.

I suspect something to come up next year though. I really hope MLB makes a case out of Urena though I halfway expect him to get like 6 games so only 1 start.
