Re: 8/13 - 8/26 Game Discussion Thread
Hypothetical Cy Young race between 4 nameless pitchers. Choose your award winner...
Pitcher A: 14-3 | 2.24 ERA | 0.98 WHIP | 8.94 K/9 | 2.46 BB/9 | 0.45 HR/9 | 161.0 IP | 2.73 FIP | 3.34 xFIP
Pitcher B: 7-7 | 1.81 ERA | 0.97 WHIP | 11.04 K/9 | 2.04 BB/9 | 0.45 HR/9 | 159.0 IP | 2.13 FIP | 2.73 xFIP
Pitcher C: 16-5 | 2.11 ERA | 0.89 WHIP | 12.06 K/9 | 2.11 BB/9 | 0.88 HR/9 | 174.2 IP | 2.59 FIP | 3.02 xFIP
Pitcher D: 10-4 | 3.18 ERA | 1.03 WHIP | 10.99 K/9 | 2.14 BB/9 | 0.64 HR/9 | 155.2 IP | 2.41 FIP | 2.63 xFIP
Really, I'm going B or C. C would probably win out.Comment

It's close between B and C for me. I think I'm leaning a little more toward C, but not by much

Josh Bell looks really uncoordinated at first base

A = Nola
B = deGrom
C = Scherzer
D = Corbin
Not surprised that most are considering B vs C, with C in the lead. A little surprised that only the Phillies supporter likes Nola (is Nola's K-rate holding others back?). Personally, I'd put A, B, and C all on somewhat equal footing.
Interesting that the guy with the best xFIP gets the least support. Also interesting that a guy with very few wins is getting such strong consideration...it would be very progressive of the Cy Young to actually go in this direction.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

I'd vote for deGrom. And the low win total/% isn't nearly as problematic as it used to be. Felix won a Cy Young in 2010 with a 13-12 record.I write things on the Internet.

I went with C before I saw the names though it was very close between him and DeGrom.
Crazy how you can have a far more balanced opinion of these things when you take the names out of the equation.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Now I'm holding my breath for Britton.
He did his job, even though Bird tried to sabotage him.Last edited by DieHardYankee26; 08-18-2018, 03:03 PM.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 8/13 - 8/26 Game Discussion Thread
IMO it starts with our starters, now including the ace we got used to stopping this from becoming such an issue by going deep in games early in the season, not giving us any depth. So the bullpen is overtaxed. You try to get Kahnle some work, he eats it, Holder has been cold lately, he eats it. Then you get to the lack of outfield depth.
Now I'm holding my breath for Britton.

I feel like it's fair to say. With Kershaws injuries and missed time. Scherzer has taken over as the most consistent pitcher of dominance.

Kershaw in 2016 was legit having one of the greatest pitching seasons of all-time until his back injury sidelined him. I'm still a little bitter.Last edited by Chip Douglass; 08-18-2018, 05:26 PM.I write things on the Internet.
