i was acyually hoping they would sign delgado before pedro, but im pleased talk are opening up again. im not sure the mets have enough cash though. i hear they offered 40 mil and another team offered 48 mil, so they are going to be paying nearly what they are paying pedro so although they would be getting a boost and would have a solid infield, i would rather see jason phillips at 1st and have beltran in the OF with the big money deal.

However, what I'm hearing is that $40M is for 3 years while the offer from Baltimore I believe is $48M for 4 years. This may happen next week. No announcement would be made to offset Pedro's big moment with the press.

You ask this question like Piazza has a ton of value. The guy is worth an average major leaguer or a couple borderline pospects at best. Not to mention the Mets will probably have to eat some of his salary if a deal is to get done.

Trade him to Washington and offer to pay for part of their stadium. Maybe the urinals or something.

haha...im hoping that Shawn Green doesnt like Arizona...so then they can trade piazza for green...who offers flexibility (1B and RF) and makes about the same amount of money as piazza

I am not worried about Pedro for the first half the contract. It is the back end that worries me. They better pull of the deal for Delgado and sign some bat to play in right. Remeber the Mets next year will start their new cable deal and they will make a lot of money from that.
