I don't understand why they can't just play in RFK.

They could, but MLB wants a new stadium within three years of the move. That was part of the agreement and a requirement of any city that wants a team.

This is just MLB being Greedy owners who want the silver platter instead of paying for at least half a stadium. All the econmic impact studies done by impartial people always say that stadiums have little affect on the area.

DC should spend the money on the schools and other things which are more important.

I don't think it's MLB being greedy as much as wanting to guarantee the team stay in a specific city permanantly. You're right, DC should spend the money in other places, but they shouldn't have bid for major league team if they weren't willing to spend the money on it. If there was an ownership group willing to put up the majority of the money, MLB would be fine with it.

As I've said all along, the Expos should have moved to Charlotte who would love to support a baseball team right now. It would've been hot to get the Bobcats and this franchise in the same few-year-span.

                    I'll stop dreaming now.

I believe Charlotte couldn't guarantee a stadium either. And they would cut into the Braves' market. LOL. I think Charlotte would be a great place to have a team.

The stadium is to be funded with gross receipts tax on DC's largest businesses (which they agreed to), taxes on concessions and annual payments by the team.

No money is being wretched from DC schools or from the everyday taxpayer, with the exception of people who are going to games and buying hotdogs/beer/ nationals paraphernalia.

There's no guarantee that the game receipts, concessions, and taxes will equal the amount spent on the stadium. And the money has to come from the city in the first place. Have you ever had a new stadium built in your city? Taxes almost always go up and many programs are cut. I won't argue whether or not the city plays fair, but it happens.
