    Say hello to Carlos

Supposedly Orioles out of the Delgado sweepstakes, and he is going to New York. All of a sudden, the Mets are back.

Delgado is by no means broken down. Yes his career as a fielder is nearing the end but he still has a great bat. Don't let the final stats on his season last year fool you. His 2nd half stats were some of the most impressive numbers in his career. He'll do well in NY but as I said in another post he sometimes gets into slumps and if the media gets to him then things will get sour.

So far the Mets have gotten:

A questionable Pedro Martinez with a possible 90% torn labrum.

An aging 1st baseman who didn't hit very well in a hitter's park (albeit it an off-year).

            Resigned an unpredictable Kris Benson.

They are going to either compete for a playoff spot or sink to the very depths of the NL.

Yes I know that but you'll get 2 good seasons defensively out of him and 1B is not a position that demands a lot of defensive skill. He'll do fine in NY as long as his bat makes up for any defensive miscues and such.
