    MLB Time Vault

In the NBA section a thread was recently bumped about who'll be the best PG in 5-10 years. The thread was from 2010.

I think it'd be cool if we had something similar for this forum. 10 years might be way too long (or feel like it went by fast,if we're reading this in 2029), but maybe we can post things for different time periods.

If you want to make bold predictions for 2020 and beyond, post it here. 2019 predictions could be saved for the eventual 2019 season prediction thread.

My predictions: (all will be ones happening in the 20s)
-MLB will expand to 32 teams, going to NFL style divisions
-Blue Jays will have a stretch in the 20s reminiscent of their mid 90s-early 90s glory days
-MLB expands to at least 6 playoff teams within a few seasons after their next CBA is up (NFL style where top 2 get a BYE, other 4 have to compete in Wildcard round, this one being best of 3)
-NL will adopt the DH after next CBA
-Pitch clock becomes a hit with fans
-Vlad Jr will be the leagues best offensive player
-We'll see some form of automated strikezone (a sensor in home plate which can tell if ball crosses the plate)
-We'll see a season in which both Yankees and Red Sox miss the playoffs (hasn't happened since 93)

Trout in his mid 30s or Vlad in his mid 20s? If vlad plays like everyone says, I'd take Vlad

            I'll take "homerism" for 500.

While i'm not going to totally play the homerism card there is a critical mass of baseball people both old and new school who believes Vlad is the best offensive prospect in a LONG time. There have been legit comparisons to Miggy, Manny Ramirez, Frank Thomas etc etc. He's said to be the best prospect to come down the pipe since A-Rod.

So it's not totally out of the question to say he would be the best player offensively in the '20s.

It's also not out of the question that he could bust.

He's dominating the minors. When he gets called up, he's in the same division as Chris Sale, Rick Porcello, David Price, Nate Eovaldi, Masahiro Tanaka, Luis Severino, Dellin Betances, Zack Britton, Adam Ottavino, Aroldis Chapman, Blake Snell, Charlie Morton, and Tyler Glasnow.

Point taken, only time will tell but recent history shows more hitting prospects pan out. Then again, knowing the Blue Jays we could be the one with a massively expensive bust.

I doubt it but anything's possible.

For the record, I hope he keeps it up. I want baseball to be infused with as many superstars as possible on as many teams as possible.

I still don’t think people realize how godly Mike Trout is lol. Just for a quick example of another active future HOF player, he only has 5 less career WAR than Miguel Cabrera, in 8 less seasons. His career WRC+ is 172. Miguel Cabrera’s is 149. Mike Trout will likely go down as the greatest hitter ever if he continues on this career trajectory.

Also, Mike isn’t turning 28 until August. So even if we skip forward 5 years from now, he’s in his age 32-33 season. I’m absolutely taking Mike Trout as best player in the league.

I see TripleCrown going for the time capsule thread with gusto...we're going to look at this in 10 years and think "what a genius" or "what a schmuck".

                          All or nothing, baby.

I guess I should make a prediction to look back at in shame

The Red Sox are going to have a 20s similar to the Yankees' 50s.

Following the OP’s lead, the Angels won’t lose a game for the entirety the 20’s and Jo Adell will become the next Mike Trout.
