    Maddon has to go.
That team needs someone to come in and kick guys into gear.

I think Heyward literally brought one of his gold glove plaques on this road trip instead of his leather mitt.

Cubs continue to simply play Cubs baseball. Fire everyone. Relegate the franchise to AAA. Burn it to the ground.

Yup, Cubs down 6-0 in the 2nd inning is just about all you could hope for. This season is such a clown show. They play like they decided in February that there was nothing to play for this season.

It's kind of insane how poorly the organization has evaluated their own players.

Couldn't care less about titles. BFD. They're run incredibly poorly and on purpose and have been for 25 years and any time they have even the slightest bit of success they trade everyone and make a mockery of the sport and its integrity.

They're a disgusting organization and should be forced to fold for all their transgressions.

Yes, yes, and yes. (and yes, they're gonna get swept)

Lester has a full NTC though and I'm not sure what value he'd have to other teams at ~$20M per year. Couldn't see getting more than a low level lotto ticket for him while also paying some salary. I mean he's 35 and a 31-year-old Dallas Keuchel is still rotting in free agency.

Quintana has lost so much value since the Cubs got him. It's absurd thinking about what the Cubs gave up vs what they'd likely get back for a ho-hum lefty now on the wrong side of 30 and running out of those team-friendly contract years.

Zobrist has been the most consistent Cub on offense and I love him to death, but no way he factors into the team beyond this season. As someone on an "expiring contract" who will turn 38 later this season, I doubt he brings much value in a trade.

Yeah I was saying that facetiously. The team has lost all value in their movable pieces aside from Javy and KB, and those two won't be moved. Over/under 50 games before Joe is gone?

Just don't see who the Cubs can get rid of over the next year or so that would free up enough money to improve this team as much as it needs to improve, nor do they have the prospects to go out and get affordable help. Might need to tear the whole thing down again

What on earth has happened to Boston? I heavily questioned their bullpen preseason, but the starting rotation has been unbelievably bad

I'll venture to say both the Red Sox and Cubs will still be within 5 games of first place by Memorial Day.

Agreed. Schwarber is probably their most movable chip right now, but Theo loves him too much it seems. Maybe Hamels and Hendricks figure it out this time through the rotation, but the starters need to go 7-8 innings and the bullpen needs a 4+ run lead it seems to win a game.

The Cubs have spent themselves so far into a corner, they will just have to ride or die with what they have. And, boy they're dying even more spectacularly than those of us who already knew they had a ****ty offseason would've imagined. The whole bit about trying harder and improving from within was always total bull****. Boilerplate. Corporate speak. Whatever you want to call it. Maddon is not the human being to get guys to simply "play harder." Play looser maybe.

All of the players that would help the Cubs to move are negative assets at this point. Nobody's taking Heyward or Chatwood obviously. Lester and Hamels both make too much money and are middle of the rotation options with some downside risk. Ditto Yu Darvish. Zobrist is too old to be anything more than a waiver-trade candidate. Addison Russell has too much baggage now (and can't hit).

For the love of God, though, they better trade Schwarber and/or Ian Happ while either of those guys has value left. Would rather they deal Quintana before he rips up his arm doing these cringe-worthy 80 pitches over 3 innings type of starts. For a guy whose calling card was consistency, he sure lays eggs often enough.
