Saw the Cole/Kulpa thing. My God, that's....not good.

Seriously, i've seen a ton of bad umpiring at the plate early on this year. It's an epidemic it seems.

Anywho, Jays go out in the elements this weekend and start their trip off with dinner time baseball at the weird time of 6 PM. Is there literally nothing going on in Cleveland that they've scheduled this game for the dinner hour rather than the normal 7 PM?

A 4 game series, each game starts at a different time lol. 6,7,4,1.

It seems to be a normal thing for Cleveland early on. Maybe it has to do with sun or something? Through May they play many weekday games at 6:10.

They have such a weird schedule. Start season Thursday, have Friday off, play Saturday/Sunday. Then start new series Monday(home opener), have Tuesday off, play Wednesday, then have a different series begin Thursday.

The random days off are built in weather days early in the season.

I get why they do that, especially after the home opener so you piss off the least number of fans of the sellout by having it the next day instead. But the Twins schedule is absolutely ridiculous this year. 5 days off in the first two weeks. Then they play 14 days in a row. I bet they'll actually get one cancelled in that 14-day stretch instead of during these first two weeks.

The Braves have a weird three-game trip to Colorado sandwiched in between home stands with no travel days.

Strasburg vs. Thor round two today.....interesting how quirky the opening week schedules can be. Excited to see if this time we get the awesome pitcher's duel we all wanted.

Anyone else see this fastball by Jose Alvarado?

99 MPH and moved 14.1 inches horizontally. Unbelievable.

First hit of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Syndergaard has had some control issues, but so far it has kind of been as advertised. Not much solid contact at all from either side.

Alvarado and Diego Castillo are sneakily as good a pair of relievers as there is in baseball. Both pretty unhittable for most of last year, they just walk a few too many. But their stuff is ridiculous

Chris Davis is 0 for his last 37. This dates back to last season (September 14th).

I know he was always a strikeout guy, but what ever happened to him? Why is he playing?

Best reason I can of think is his contract and how much money he’s making. Surely there’s someone with more upside then Davis at this point that they could be playing instead. Should just fully accept what an awful contract that was and release him.

When I saw the Orioles in town I literally said to myself "I feel sorry for this guy" in regards to Davis. I know he was always a high strikeout guy with big HR power but what we're seeing now is just demoralizing to watch. I bet it hurts even more to be him right now.

I mean, I've seen slumps like this before. Posey had like a 1-for-38 once. But other players aren't entirely defeated at the plate. This guy pretty much has no shot.

Thing is though, I don't really see him doing anything about it. No sense of adjustment or alteration in his swing path whatsoever. He's digging his own hole. And hey, I can't feel too bad for him given the money that he is making. If he feels that guilty about it, he could always void that contract outright.

                                EDIT: Another swinging strikeout.
