4) If an umpire has particular reason to overrule what New York says about a call standing because of what they see or sense, including what they see on the jumbotron themselves or seeing a particular mark on the ground or on the body, then they have the right to do so. These are the umpires that want to make the case that their call is correct, so to admit defeat is not something you would normally expect to see.

I believe this would have occurred during the Baltimore-Boston game. I think the umpires on the field kind of said: "Sorry, my hands are tied."

5) Managers/players shouldn't necessarily be able to argue after a decision is made, but they should be able to get complete clarification and state their case for the record without being ejected from the ball game. This includes where certain runners should be placed after a call is overturned.

He never even got to talk to the second base umpire at any time afterward for full clarification of matter, and his viewpoint. Some umpires, like this field umpire, even turn their bodies away from the jumbotron for what I believe to be "plausible deniability" purposes.

It's unfortunate that you can't seem to argue a call without needing to go to replay for the appeal, either. I'm really not a fan of replay at all, man. Home runs only, and make it an automatic.

Sigh, Darvish can't throw a strike to the Marlins 8 hitter with a 3 run lead. And now it's a two run lead after an error, and this is starting to become a big mess.

Got out of it with just the one run scoring.

I thought it was SOP that if the guy behind you walked on 4 pitches, you do not swing at the 1st pitch you see coming up. Does Harper not know this? Tuck in your cape Harper.

But that might be the best pitch you get. Think about it.. what is the pitcher trying to do above anything else after throwing 4 straight balls?

If he swung at a pitch out of the zone, that's bad. But if he just missed a good pitch to hit, there's nothing wrong with that in my mind.
