Machado with a 2 run first inning BOMB off Kershaw. This is going to be a good series

Shouldn't have been ejected. There were no warnings prior. Besides, we could throw at him every single AB for the rest of his career in Miami and I wouldn't care. He pulled a soft move by throwing at a guy who's only 'mistake' was going on a tear and hitting HRs. You don't throw at someone for simply being good. He broke that rule and deserves to live with the consequences.

So Vlad Guerrero Jr. is being pitched around MORE than even Mike Trout.

Watching Rondon pitching for the white Sox, gotta love the 58 mph eephus pitch.

Usually totally agree with SF, but I have no problem throwing at Urena. My only regret is that he didn't actually get hit. **** that guy.

I also don't mind Touki getting the work. Lord knows he needs it.

150 years ago today, the first ever professional baseball game was played.

The Cincinnati Red Stockings were victorious over the Great Westerns of Cincinnati by a score of 45-9.

But also, because of the umps, he has to "earn the strikezone". I've seen many pitches that could be a ball called a strike.

Been walked on average once every other game. If he starts hitting, that number is sure to go up.

Look at Judge in his rookie year. 6 walks in first 17 games. After he started hitting some home runs, he ended up getting walked a few times a series leading to him getting the rookie walk record.

Last night, Josh Phegley became the first catcher in A's history to record more than 6 RBI in a single game (he had 8).

He had 7 without an HR (would have set another record) but then popped that one in the 9th.

Edit: His previous career high was 4 during his rookie year in '13 and the last time a catcher had 8 was Pudge back in '99.

I was watching a bit of the Nats/Phillies game last night. Vasgersian and Girardi were an interesting pair. I actually thought Joe did a good job as i've never heard him in the booth before. Clearly he doesn't have as much experience but I felt he did a great job.

The thing that stands out and Matty V mentioned it, if Hoskins continues to play the way he is now are the Phillies gonna have the money to pay this guy when he becomes a free agent?!

Dang, had no idea Martinez had that much of a cannon.

And then he rockets one out of the yard in the next half inning.

I'm all for players policing themselves, but I didn't like Gausman throwing at Urena there. He was just 1-4 before last night with a bad ERA on a bad team. It just seemed pointless, especially with forcing the bullpen to get a lot of work at the start of a long and tough (after leaving Miami) road trip.

Then I saw Urena's comments after the game. Dude tried to act like he was innocent. It's too bad Gausman didn't actually hit him.

They'll have plenty of money for Hoskins.
