    Re: 4/29 - 5/12 Game Discussion Thread

I personally wish they would do away with replay. I don't know the percentage of calls that are overturned, and honestly nor I care, but I hate the fact that the game is halted for several minutes while a play is reviewed.

Umpires are paid to officiate the game. Let them and deal with whatever call they make.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I was a fan of it at first. Well the idea. But its horribly executed. It takes forever. You have to call this "special" (air quotes) booth in New York. And they still make a mistake at times over a blatant call.

I have no idea why they cant just watch a video right there on the giant screen in the stadium. I don't understand why it takes 5 min to make a call that everyone else could figure out in 20 sec.

One last thing. They want to speed up the game right? So they get rid of the 4 ball IBB. But they add a replay system that drags the game on? Which one takes longer?

That literally makes no sense. The thought process was not strong on this one lol.

It’s all down to umpire ego. They could make it much faster, the umps just refuse to have someone off the field make the decision.

Just like in NBA, that's the problem with officiating.

You have too many of these older, more stubborn umps. And we probably have ones who didn't even go through proper training when coming up, similar to a player where you go through A,AA,AAA and then get called up to big leagues. Learning different things at each level and called up once you're ready.

Replay should just be a short thing. No 10 angles at 4 different speeds to determine a 1 inch difference. Replays should be for obvious things. Like if a batter is called out at 1B and replay shows he got to 1B when the ball wasn't even close to the glove, those are what replays should be for.

Although in baseball, theres more reasons to get ejected. I'm sure we see MLB coaches ejected more times per year than other sports coaches get ejected in their career.

Blake Snell was absolutely dominating NYY. 11Ks in 4 and 2/3. Then outta nowhere the Yankees strike. Tauchman of all people about destroyed the CF wall. Then my boy D.J comes thru.

There was just a fair/foul review in the Twins game. Now it wasn’t close and took about 80 seconds. But the umps didn’t have to go look at a monitor themselves. Did that change this season?

Hmm. Thats odd. Yankees had a review about an inning ago. They went to their headsets and took about 3 min. To their credit it was a tough call. So that one was understandable.

Yeah the umps in this game just went to the headsets. I thought I remembered that they always went over to look at monitors. If they’re just listening in on someone at a command center for certain calls that’s actually a step in the right direction.

No they've been going to the headsets. Waiting for the answer from the booth as far as I remember.

Yankees come out of the power outage absolutely obliterating the ball.

If Ryu gets the no-no, that play by Bellinger is epic...
