A-Rod is a great studio analyst.

A-Rod is a terrible color commentator.

        Interesting how that seems contradictory.

Not really, being in the studio requires a lot of prep work and mapping out segments. There can be some spontaneity but generally it's scripted with some ad libs. Doing live color requires quick thinking, being able to take what's going on in the game and relaying the little nuances in a timely and quick manner.

Some guys are great at it and others just fall flat on their asses.

I'm guessing his analysis are more than just "He made good contact with the ball and got on base. As a team you need to do that consistently to win games."

But being a commentator is tough. You gotta find enough stuff to talk about for 3 hours a day, most days a week. It's not like basketball where there's action most of the time. Baseball has lots of dead time where you often just hear guys filling time, talking baseball stories from the old days.

Indians shut out for the 5th time this season.

Only got shut out 7 times last season.

I'm not saying this is the cause, but I wouldn't be shocked if the Cubs' offense dumpster-diving and Kyle Schwarber being the leadoff hitter again correlate to one another.

EDIT: What's more? Welcome to the newest Chicago Cub...CarGo? This should be interesting.

I really don't understand the fascination with Schwarber in that spot. Or really with him at all.

One hit and a highlight reel catch. I'll take it.

Cub offense waking up to the home cooking this afternoon. 5 run inning without a longball (but 2 HR's came later on)

Seattle might've just made the worst, most unaware defensive play I've ever seen.

I'm not even mad, I'm impressed.

I'm assuming this was the throw home with no catcher there to receive it?

The look on the pitcher's face said it all. Looked like a DP ball (which is why there was no catcher, he went to back up 1st) and then that happens.
