Tonight wasn't on Maddon at all. the only thing I might do over is letting Kyle Ryan finishing that inning because if Marte doesn't hit in a DP you are screwed because Bell best side LH so Ryan makes more sense there.

But whose to know that the guy(Kintzler) who doesn't walk anyone would walk everyone.

This team might not make the playoffs. even before Kemp's big hit that was one of the worst offensive games of the season.

I agree letting Ryan try to get out of that. He's had all of his inherited runners score lately.

And I know there's no one else, but that is a really tough spot for kintzler for his first outing in 11 days. He had no feel for his offspeed which is to be expected after that layoff.

I don't pin that one on Maddon either. Bad offense and bad bullpen is a recipe for lots of losses. Nick Castellanos GIDP in the 8th inning with 1 out and Kemp on 3rd was brutal because it stunted the team's momentum after Kemp's go ahead 2-RBI triple.

I think we've seen that Kintzler isn't "closer" material because he just can't miss bats. He's great for when you need a GB in the 6th/7th/8th innings though.

Bote was in the wrong place/wrong time for 2 nights in a row. This time he was eaten up by a short hop. Sucks to think that if the Cubs had just played Bryant/Baez/Kemp/Rizzo in the infield they would've probably won tonight and last night.

At least Kyle Hendricks rebounded from his worst ever start last time out.

Yeah I think that was the play of the game. and it's hard to fault Castellanos with how great he's been.

Bote played himself into that hop. Playing back and no doubles, you have to field the second hop. He's not agile enough to turn that into a short hop, so he had to sit back (which he had time to do with a clean transfer and strong throw). Just another misplay

Glad I didn't watch the Cubs game tonight.....

In other news Bill Walton in the booth for a baseball game is exactly what you would expect. Don't know if I love it or if it's annoying, but the clips on twitter are entertaining

The Giants' bullpen has been incredibly vulnerable lately.

So many ****ing homers in this Giants/Diamondbacks game.

Is any team in the sport capable of scoring without a homer?

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but the team with the least home runs this year (Miami Marlins: 100) also have the highest R/HR ratio in the league at 4.43, and they only average 3.66 runs a game.

These Pirate comebacks against good teams would have been handy before going 2-24ish.

Phew. Really didn't want to see a trifecta of blown 9th inning leads.

I say it every time they wear them, but I love Oakland's green jerseys. A nice nod to the 70s dynasty.
