Wow asianflow, even you could look over the great acquisitions by the Padres this F/A? I mean c'mon, we got Dennys Reyes, the best pitcher at falling, Rudy Seanez, who I've never heard of before, Woody Williams, who KT states is the best thing when you can sign someone after making a mistake by trading them, and Chris Hammond, a lefty-specialist. Man, with those moves we made a splash in the NL West.

Oh yeah, let's not forget the great Mark Sweeney, Eric Young and Geoff Blum. Who needs Beltran and Beltre when you can have these guys. Man I'm sure pumped up this season.

I have no idea why the owner for the Padres isn't opening up the wallet to bring in a few quality players. They have a new park and the fans showed up in large numbers last season. I'm thinking the Park scares away hitters knowing their numbers will take a big hit.

But imo the NL West is still wide open and I could see the Pads winning the division.

Moores is a cheap-#@$ owner who pockets all the money. He owns a freaking hotel near the ballpark. But he could careless about the Padres because he thinks 3 million fans will be coming in year in and year out just because of the ballpark. As for the ballpark, I'm waiting until the surrounding area is developed, I heard it'll have an effect on the wind-patterns but I'm not counting on it. I think only Loretta-type hitters and power-hitters who drive the ball to LF will thrive at Petco.

The whole area around Petco is full of empty warehouses. I fail to see how development would shift the wind patterns.

The Pads should be building around pitching and defence.

They're creating a bunch of skyscrapers (oh so I hear) in that whole district... once again I doubt it'll have an effect.

I agree with your assessment on the Padres, too bad Towers didn't realize that until months after the ballpark was opened.

I would be SHOCKED if the O's picked up either Delgado or Ordonez (i prefer Magglio).
