What a blow for the season for the Brew Crew.

A buddy and I watched the replay and it didn't appear to be too bad only because the angle we saw it appeared to it hit him in the thigh and he walked off on his own power.

Never would have guess busted kneecap.

He is a great leader on this team.

Terrible injury to such a star. Team was in a tough spot to make the playoffs anyhow but still, he helped make the games worth watching. Here's hoping it's not a long term detriment and that he'll be back by Spring.

Cubs' bats are battling as their bullpen falters, KB hits his second HR of the night to pull the Cubs within a run again.

HEYWARD ties the game with a HR! His second of the night as well!

I bet Theo knew Rowan Wick and Nico Hoerner would be two of the most important players on the team come September.

There really is no middle ground for Heyward. He's either on fire or oh fer his last 30.

So Cishek is how we're gonna lose this game huh?

Edit: Yep. 3 straight walks, game over.

that one is gonna hurt. Had a chance to get to 3 in the division and extend the lead over the WC.

He should've went to Wieck even though it's not a good matchup with Margot at that point you want a guy just to throw strikes.

of course when the offense finally picks them up they do this.

It's just a bad team. Too many holes. Too old and injured in certain spots. One of the worst 10-games-over-.500 teams I can ever remember. No momentum, no real phase of the game they can hang their hat on. Losing Baez for the year is a crusher (and Kimbrel? seems like my dude is spending too much time with Brandon Morrow).

Even if the Cubs maintain their season pace, they'll finish 86-76 which will be one of the more obvious underachievements in Cubs history. Maybe missing the playoffs at 89-73 with a loaded team in 2004 is good comparison point.

Play by Play Man Brian Anderson sums it all up on the loss of Yelich:

                            Just saw
                            @ChristianYelich
walk in the hotel on crutches. Understandably crushed. Injuries are part of the game, he will recover. But, these players put a lot into performing at this level. To see a talent like that, at the top of his game, have a season end like that, is brutal.

Such a freak injury...you see guys foul balls off like that all season. Hate injuries, but especially to the big time talent.

Hate to see that for Yelich.

When I first heard and saw, I thought he was being removed due to being bruised or something along those lines. Didn't expect that he was done for the year.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
