Jordan Hicks to start season on IL
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Jose Quintana needed 5 stitches in his left thumb after cutting himself washing dishes. He'll start throwing again in 2 weeks, but he damaged a nerve in the thumb, so the timetable on his return is up in the air.

      Great start Cubbies.

Speaking of IL, a few Jays will be on IL.

MLB won't release names of guys who have the virus, but when a team reported to have cases suddenly puts multiple guys on the IL and can have over the 60 player limit as well, you can put the pieces together and figure it out.

Jays won't be playing exhibition games vs other teams this season. They'll be playing intrasquad games.

If Sportsnet doesn't televise that, they've failed. It's a meaningless game, but I'd tune in more to watch Toronto vs Blue Jays than an exhibition game vs the Pirates or Os or something.

Also, the hotel still has room. I'd imagine if a schedule gets released, tickets will be sold instantly. Literally the only way to watch a Jays game in person, if it's even allowed. I would've thought they'd rent the entire hotel to the visiting team.

Every team is playing intrasquad games for the most of the camp. They get 3 exhibition games just before the season.

I'm sure we'll see other teams do the same.

Toronto vs Blue Jays intrasquad games will be shown on TV next week.

Their first game is happening tonight, and fans have been begging for games to air and will get their wish.

I wonder how long these games last. No commercials, mound visits or any of that stuff I'd imagine. Do these even have umps or anything?

Most that I have seen have a player or coach calling balls/strikes.

Braves had one today with an ump and it was under 1:30. There was no play by play and not sure if they even had audio, so I didn't bother.

                          News we expected to happen.

Vlad Jr will be moving to 1B/DH.

Hopefully he ends up more like what happened with Miguel Cabrera in Detroit rather than just a DH who sometimes played 1B like Ortiz.

I've said it since he debuted, 1B would be way better for him. Not just for his own sake but Jays overall don't need him at 3B. Their next top hitting prospect plays 3B, and Travis Shaw is here too and plays 3B, so no need to have Vlad over there.

Offensively that's a great thing, but in today's baseball, versatility is what teams look for.

Having a guy who can only DH isn't the most ideal situation. You'd hope he can at least play 1B more than DH so it gives the team options in different situations (like using the DH spot to better match up vs certain starters, or giving a fielder a day off by having him DH for a game).

it's only a bad thing if the reason DH'ing is your best option is because you're a defensive liability. personally, I don't care to see pitchers hit, but I never wanted to see baseball have an offensive lineup and a defensive lineup. how about just getting rid of the DH and have only 8 batters. I'm much more on board with that. and if having a DH is a good thing, why stop at 1, having 3 or 4 DH's in the lineup should be 3 or 4 times as great.
