I'm not sure, overcoming the revamped Mets, with a new sense of confidence and better players, will be a tough task for the Phils.

I am still not sold on the Mets, this reminds me of the Mo Vaughn type deals in the past, and we all know how they panned out. I think they overpaid and overrated Beltran and the jury is still out on Pedro.

Now if they get Delgado then that is a different story...

Although it is VERY early, I see the division finished somewhat like..

Braves
Mets
Marlins
Phillies
Nationals

The Marlins and Phillies are interchangeable.. I guess it doesn't really matter with how I have them placed, though.

Fair enough, any of the teams can finish on top, it could all come down to whose starters stay healthy.

Pedro may not be the best starter in the league anymore, but up to 100 pitches, he's as good as anybody. He'll still get his wins, just not in the 20+ variety.

I kind of agree w/ the Beltran statement, but there is no denying that the guy can flat out play. Plus, he keeps getting better, and that's what the Mets signed him for. He has so much potential, and will prove to be an AWESOME pickup for New York.

Delgado would be nice, but I don't really think the Mets NEED him to be successful this year. With the additions of Pedro, Beltran, and Byrnes, New York has said that they care again, and that will contribute to a renewed confidence and winning ballgames.

I wish my Fish wouldnt have let Carl go!!! I think if Leiter can produce we might be able to challenge for the division or at least maybe be in the running hopefully down the stretch for the Wild Card.

I think the problem with Beltran is Shea stadium and the NY press. His numbers may not be great because of the park and the press may start hounding him saying he is overpaid etc.

I do think they need Delgado because they do not have a solid 1b next year. It is going to be a great season to watch because really, it could be a 4 team race!
