I do think they need Delgado because they do not have a solid 1b next year. It is going to be a great season to watch because really, it could be a 4 team race!
The Mets definitely need someone at 1B, and if they don't get Delgado, I read they are likely going to pursue another, lower tiered first baseman.

General manager Omar Minaya's next best options are trading for Doug Mientkiewicz or signing free-agent Travis Lee. They're both left-handed bats, defensively skilled and reasonably priced. The Mets prefer Lee to John Olerud, and see Mientkiewicz as a better fit than Boston's other available first baseman, Kevin Millar. They could probably land him with a solid minor-league prospect.

Delgado would be great, Millar would be my second "want." Travis Lee would be a downgrade IMO, because I don't think the guy is that good.

It will be interesting to see what happens, and also should result in a tight NL East this season.

Good point, I guess we will see how Pavano does in NY. Loria seems like a Scheister to me, I think he is trying his best to get the team to Vegas.

I kinda wish he was in the pen as well, but the Braves needed another starter and it seemed kinda like either start Smoltz or lose him to another team. So I'm glad he is a starter because I like Smoltz.

As how I think the division will shape up:

                    Braves
                    Mets
                    Marlins/Phillies toss up
                    Nationals

                    Atlanta Braves
                    - Auburn Tigers - Nashville Predators
