    The 2005 Cubs(my predicted lienups)

I THINK we will get Magglio Ordonez or Aubrey Huff. I know for a fact that we will get Burnitz because he stated he wants to be on a good team and really its just us and Pirates who want him, so he will be a Cub.

    If we get Magglio/Burnitz...
    2B Hairston(Walker)
SS Garciaparra(Cubs want contact and walks in this spot)
    3B Ramirez
    RF Ordonez
    1B Lee
    LF Burnitz(Hollandsworth)
    CF Patterson
    C Barrett

That looks REALLY good of a lineup. In the Chicago Sun-Times, the columnist stated that they would sign Magglio to a 1 or 2 year deal and Magglio would LOVE to play for Chicago Cubs. But will he pass up the years(4-5) in Detriot?

Now if we get Huff who will we give up? I think Farnsworth, Kelton and a Minor leaguer.

    Heres the lineup with Huff/Burnitz...
    2B Hairston(Walker)
    SS Garciaparra
    3B Ramirez
    1B Lee
    RF Huff
    LF Burnitz(Hollandsworth)
    CF Patterson
    C Barrett

I like that lineup, but not AS MUCH as with it with Magglio, but still 1-8 are really impressive. LOL with the Cubs pitchers, we have some good Pitcher Hitters in Wood/Zambrano/Rusch/Maddux, and Prior is decent.

    Our bench:
    OF Hollandsworth
    2B Walker
    Util Macias
    SS Perez
    OF Dubois
    OF Bergeron

    Here is the Starting Rotation
    1. Wood
    2. Maddux
    3. Prior
    4. Zambrano
    5. Rusch(Guzman, if he has a good spring and Rusch aint last years Rusch)

    The Bullpen
    1. Dempster
    2. Hawkins
    3. Farnsworth
    4. Remlinger
    5. Borowski
    6. Wellmeyer
    7. Anderson

If we get Huff or Magglio, i think we are the favorites in the NL central.

How's that angstrom? The middle 5 guys are capable of 100+ RBI seasons...that's pretty good IMO!

GregO: Curious...why did you put Hairston over Walker starting? I highly doubt that will happen. Grudz was an outstanding second baseman and we let him go for Walker to be our starter. I guarantee Todd Walker will be the Cubs starting second baseman...as long as he doesn't get hurt.

Because I dont like Patterson in the #1 spot, simple as that. I want a speedy guy who has good contact, Patterson ha speed, but Definetly cont good contact. (I expect it his contact to be better this year.) I dont know much about Hairston but he has to be better then Patterson, contact wise. But i expect Walker and Hairston will switch off regualry, especlly since Hairston is a righty and Walker is a lefty

Why is it that the pitchers BETTER pitch good? What does this trade have to do with pitchers besides the fact that now this is a pitching team and not a power team. I dont even like a power team and both of my teams are now trying for a faster team. I thought you were turning on the cubs and going to be a baltimore fan. What happened? You relized that the trade wasnt even bad? Did you get the accurate stats now? I like the trade, and dont like the trade.

I like it because Sosa woula been the BIGGEST distraction. He complain everygame about the Boos. The fans did not want him nomore.

I dont like the trade because we coulda gotten more for Sosa. Why didnt we get Julio and get Gibbons? We didnt really need that 2B prospect if we got 2 2B now.

Im looking foward to the rest of the offseason, and i cant wait to see if we get Huff or Magglio and see your comments about how the Sosa trade looks then. Right now the trade looks bad because we werent able to yet. I expect to get Burnitz and Magglio/Huff int he next week.

Haven't the Cubs biggest offensive problems recently been a huge amount of strikeouts, leading to ungodly numbers of runners left on base, specifically runners in scoring position?

This lineup seems to have the exact same problems...how does adding another low-average, high strikeout guy like Burnitz (career average: .253) help at all?

It may just be me, but this seems like the exact Cubs lineup they've had for the past 5 years but with less power...
