Shyeah. And how many times have we heard that?

Let me know when he can actually get his average around .300 and keep the strikeouts below 100.

Losing 20 lbs. probably wouldn't hurt either.

I agree they have been working with Andruw for awhile now on hittin the other way and I hope one day he can figure it out..but the playoffs from last year was a good sign in my opinion and if he could just keep that going..he could maybe get the average up to .290+..and Chipper I believe he's got a few more good years in him....After he got 100% last year he started tearing it up so I still believe in him very much...But i'm also a Braves fan hoping for these guys to tear it up next year

Andruw Jones is a good player, but those who were expecting him to become a superstar and live up to his contract need to come back to reality.

I don't know if he's just lazy or what, but the best your probably ever going to see of him was in 2000.

But that's one of the things about Andruw -- when he's on, he's unstoppable, when he is struggling, you'd be better off having Rafael Belliard hitting for him in the lineup. And his playoff numbers personify this perfectly. His playoff stats, even from series-to-series within one season are so jumpy it's crazy. And he's just like that from series-to-series, AB-to-AB, game-to-game during the regular season. You never know what you are going to get for him. To coin a phrase, he's consistently inconsistent. But, somehow it all evens out in the end, so he always ends up hitting around 30 homers and driving in right at 100 runs. It's depressing seeing what he is capable of doing at the plate every September, when the pressure is off of him to produce and carry his weight (pun absolutely intended), but never being able to do that when it's really needed during the heart of the summer.

The thing about Chipper is, he is always going to hit well over .300 with 10+ homers and around 30 RBI in August every season, it's a lock. And you explained perfectly why that is the case, because it's right when he is usually getting healthy. But, hopefully with being back at third everyday, he will be able to keep from getting as banged up as he did by stumbling around the outfield like a five year old playing teeball. He's usually a quick starter, but he has to stay in the lineup to keep it up. But, when you are breaking down like he has at 33, there is certainly cause for concern.

I'm glad to hear that, however I hope it comes true when it does come time to need that reworked contract to resign Hudson. I didnt really push for a trade of Chipper. He's such a mainstay of this franchise, and one of if not my favorite player in the game, I couldnt bear to see him in another uniform. Yes he dropped production in the playoffs and his production dropped the past couple years but I think its wear and tear catching up. He's still got .300/25/100 at least in him, and I'll take it any day.

Chipper's got plenty left. He's only 32 (turns 33 April 24). In 2003, he hit .305/27/106. In a frustrating, injury-plagued 2004 he still managed 30 HR's, nearly 100 RBI's and an OBP 100 points higher than his BA.

Back at 3rd base, and his injuries presumably healed, I expect Chipper to return to form (or damn close to it).

If Chipper remains healthy, he'll be productive. Andruw will always be Andruw. However, his playoff performance last year was encouraging. But, I'd take it as a grain of salt.
