Yes, that's what makes it even nuttier.

And as the inning continued, Craig made another tough error at 1B. Pretty sure he climbed under the nearest rock after they finally got the 3rd out.

I'm surprised we don't see more plays similar to that.

Stall the out for a run. Not so much in the situation we saw with the Cubs, but lets say a guy is going to 2B and theres a runner on 3rd. I'd take my time going to 2B to guarantee the runner at 3B goes home.

I know its "Bush league", but my team used to do that when I was younger. If there was 2 outs, runners on the corner, the person from 1B would fast walk to 2B to get the catcher to pay attention there. The catcher would throw to 2B and the runner at 3B sprints home. The runner from 1B likely gets out, but not before the runner at 3B scored. Literally trade a run for an out.

Manoah made his MLB debut for the Jays in NY.

        What a huge debut.

He was 1 inning away from a complete game shutout* (7 inning game). 7Ks, 2H, 2BB.

          Gm2 of doubleheader already.

Bo with a 3 run HR.

To think, Jays are borderline top 5 in runs per game, 1st in the AL in HR, 5th in average, 3rd in AL in OPS, and Springer still hasn't really played yet.

Maybe he'll return for the September playoff push...

I learned something new. I always thought if you retreated back to home that you were out. I don't really know why I thought that.

Javy is magic and if the Cubs let him go I will be very sad

With the Mets getting rained out tonight I wanted to see if they were anywhere near setting a season record for most doubleheaders. Turns out that record is pretty safe, the WhiteSox played 44 doubleheader’s in 1943

Maybe I'm just grouchy, but I can't be "amazed" at the "IQ" of Javy on that play. That play only happens because the first baseman must be brain dead. That's the worst play in baseball history and the lowest IQ play in baseball history by the Pirates. All you have to do is turn and get the force out or simply tag Baez when he gets back to home plate. The run doesn't count if you do either of those and I'm amazed a professional player wouldn't know the rules.

Have you ever seen anyone else turn around and go back towards the plate on any ball that's not a bunt or one fielded on the first base line?

Surprised Jays aren't rushing through the 5th to get Cleveland at the plate and complete their at bats so this 9-2 game gets made official.

                      It's definitely being called soon.

How do those work with the new doubleheader rule?

If a game gets postponed midway through (as in before the 6th) and resumed at a later date as part of a doubleheader, does that game become a 7 inning game? Does that first one still go 9 but the second goes 7?

Jays and Cleveland game seems like it's over.

11-2, 7th inning, it's raining, but they're just delaying it right now.

Don't know why they'd even bother continuing.

Weather is bad, Cleveland isn't coming back, just end it.

Doesn't seem like anyone knows what's going on.

Official word is that the game is delayed. But the teams seem to be gone. Fans still waiting around. Grounds crew are basically just prepping the field for tomorrow (field isn't tarped off, and nothing is even being done to fix it for the resumption of a game). Just say game over and let those fans go home. Their team already lost, they don't need to be out there waiting around when they've been at the ballpark 3+ hours already.

Yea Justin Wilson should probably not close games. Nevertheless the Yankees offense has to pick it up.

There needs to be a new stat created for this year and last year, the Manfred Blown Save.

After last night it's no surprise, Jays and Cleveland game postponed.

Doubleheader tomorrow, then day off on Monday.

Assuming Jays home away from home away from home opener doesn't get rained out on Tuesday, they will have gone a full week without playing a full 9 inning game!
