You just read the Boston Globe and take everything they say as the bible, huh?

Alex Rodriguez in 26 postseason games has a batting average of .330 with a OBP of .395. His OPS is .978. In addition, he's got 6 homeruns and 16 RBI.

He batted .320 last year in the postseason.

Never did much in the playoffs?

The Globe is garbage, everyone here pretty much knows it. Just like how Bob Lobel doesn't do television without a fourth of scotch in him. If Bob Lobel, Bob Ryan and Ted Kennedy went out for drinks after work, there'd be a statewide shortage of alcohol.

          haha, classic.

I look at the Globe as the Boston equivalent of the New York Daily News. Tabloid papers with nothing but junk to print. Sometimes (or most of the time) when they run out of junk to print, they just make it up.

Now, hopefully, my comment wasn't taken too strongly. I once lived in near Boston for six years (four years at school) and really respect the Red Sox and their fans (except the stupid ones. And hey, everyone has stupid fans).

I wanted to point out that Trot Nixon is better than average as a player. He's actually a good player. But, somebody already pointed it out.

The comment about ARod having never done anything in the playoffs, however, just had to be shut closed.

You might as well say the curse is still alive, the Yankees never won 4 out of 5 in the 90's, and every other somewhat recent accomplishment never happened. Because odds are, just about every team in the league has someone who has taken steroids on their roster.

And to respond to other posts...

Arod did a lot in the playoffs. He carried the team through the Twins series, and along with Matsui and Sheffield, was red hot in the first half of the Boston series. He then struggled the rest of the way. It happens. I'm one of the biggest Jeter fans in the world, but he did very little that series. Yet Arod is taking most of the blame.

The Rangers wanted to get rid of Arod because his contract was so big. He wasn't ever really considered a cancer, and I think the Rangers pitching staff doing much better had more to do with the Rangers winning than Arod being off the team did.

The respect's mutual. I made a trip to Yankee Stadium about 3 years ago and was completely taken by the monuments and all the history that fans seemed to be all about. Pretty cool to experience the 1st inning where they go through the roster and call out everyone's name and wait for a response.

A-Rod's incredible, but I tend to agree with Trot that he's no Jeter in terms of embodying your namesake...Yankee Pride! In Boston, they made it seem like Yankee fans blamed A-Rod a lot after the infamous "chop" on Bronson...you gotta admit, not his best moment. Is that true or just us having a field day with the kid?

but I digress..I really only talk crap about the Yankee hat-wearers, not the actual fans. You can spot the trendy people a mile away in their brand new hat.

Hell, I remember right after the series, I was walking around in my WS patch Sox hat, and some guy tried to fight me for being a "bandwagon fan". I went out to my truck and got my 7 year old, bought for me when it was too big for my head, dirt and sweat stained, tattered bill, Sox hat. That shut his *** up quite quickly.
Season series doesn't mean anything, and i'm not a yankee fan or a red sox fan though i prefer the yanks over the red sox because the red sox have the most annoying fans though i root for most other teams over the yanks.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

Sox fans that shout "Yankees Suck!" when the Royals are playing in town...********. They don't speak for me, BigTim or any of the other guys who have old, sweaty Sox hats as he said! Sox fans are however extremely hard on their team and it's just a sign of our attachment and our passion for baseball. Personally, I think the Yankee fans that call WEEI recycling the 26 championships argument or the ones in the bleachers of Fenway who start trouble are just as bad...but they don't represent what I saw at Yankee Stadium.

Alex has done nothing that MATTERED for the team in the playoffs, much like half of Millars HR total for this past season. Most of them came when the game was already in hand.
