They've once again fallen to 4th in the ALE. The division which of course has four teams with 40+ wins while the AL Central, NL East, NL Central combined have 4.

I'm sure things will even out soon enough, but crazy to think that 9th in the AL is projected for 84 wins.

True, but they want to be able to mix it with something else. That's why Scherzer was all of the sudden rubbing his hair all the time, trying to mix it with sweat. Even Bob Costas is in favor of letting them use other substances. Was so sure he'd be the type to want to go back to the days when throwing 95 mph was more rare, but no.

I know and I suspect that after this season, they will allow them to go back to mixing the rosin with sunscreen and sweat.

But the idea that all the sudden pitchers are going to be beaning batters (especially in the head) and uncontrollably wild due to not being able to use anything more than rosin and their ability, is silly.

This comment isn't directed at you but rather a statement/opinion to the general idea.

They just have to adjust. It's not like its impossible to throw a baseball without all these extra things on your hand. And clearly not every last pitcher in baseball used it either, so obviously they manage to throw fine at the big league level without it.

The all star break cannot get here soon enough for the Cardinals

I would say Alzolay does not have it tonight.

                  But....I don't.

After seeing this Bauer interview, can I vote him for commish? The dude is super smart, well spoken, and gets it.

Anyone watching the game know why Rizzo's out? Cubs radio mentioned it but didn't have any details.

I know he tried to reach for a bad throw from Baez earlier - that's the only thing I can think that might have happened.

He played an inning or so after that; not sure why he came out.

Josh Naylor's ankle sort of went the wrong way. Wasn't a brutal collision, but he landed terribly on his leg/foot causing it to happen. If you don't like body parts pointing the wrong way then don't click the spoiler.

His HEAVE of the baseball over the CF fence a few years ago is the best LOL I've seen in years.

Outside of that, he's growing on me.

Like Scherzer said, they need something otherwise they'll be throwing 95 mph at dudes' heads. In reality they are going to have to start throwing pitches that they can actually control. If that means a dip in velocity oh well. Like is tough.
If that’s going to be their excuse, they need to come up with a better one. The Mets had two players get hit in the head before all the umpire checks and Conforto nearly did too in April plus Bryce Harper. I’m sure there have been plenty of pitches way too close to the head outside of the NL East too
