    Pudge loses 22 pounds...

Very interesting. One prominent scount has been referring to the last few years as "The Years of the Shrinking Player". Add that with the shrinking HR totals and this whole thing just keeps getting more and more interesting IMO.

PS - Pudge of course was named in Canseco's book. I'm not saying that's the reason he arrived at camp much lighter, but it does make one wonder.

So, do we still call him Pudge?

I don't know, people wondered if Klesko was a juicer because he lost of lot of weight last year. Of course he couldn't lift weights so he lost muscle. He gained 15 lbs of muscle this offseason so I don't think he was juicer.

As for Pudge here, I'm indifferent even if Canseco named him in his book and if he lost 22 lbs.

Pudge was fat though. And being a catcher I think he realised that he needed to get n better shape especially during the dog days in summer where the temperature can reach 85 degrees.I don't think he's a roider, but you never know.

no pudge was not fat by any means, he was solid. So he could have used somthing, like you said you never know.

Your right he did need to change his body composition, because he wasn't able to last through the last few seasons. He only led the Marlins to a world title, having plenty in the tank for the postseason. Come on now, your statement is just wrong. He spent a majority of his carrer being "pudgy" in Texas, then south Florida, now that he's in Detroit, he needed to lose the weight? I hope he doesn't use this reason for losing 22 pounds, 22, thats a lot of weight. Like others have said he wasn't fat, he was a solid specimen.

I cant, like everyone else in the world, say that he was on something, but look at Giambi and Bonds they lost a good amount of weight over the last off-season, and we know how their testimony's turned out.
