Re: Pudge loses 22 pounds...
Originally posted by longballYour right he did need to change his body composition, because he wasn't able to last through the last few seasons. He only led the Marlins to a world title, having plenty in the tank for the postseason. Come on now, your statement is just wrong. He spent a majority of his carrer being "pudgy" in Texas, then south Florida, now that he's in Detroit, he needed to lose the weight? I hope he doesn't use this reason for losing 22 pounds, 22, thats a lot of weight. Like others have said he wasn't fat, he was a solid specimen.
I cant, like everyone else in the world, say that he was on something, but look at Giambi and Bonds they lost a good amount of weight over the last off-season, and we know how their testimony's turned out.Comment

Re: Pudge loses 22 pounds...
I can't make a judgement one way or another regarding Pudge and roids tho I think it makes sense for him to lose some weight now as he's getting older and playing a position that demands more of your body then every position. (except Pitcher)Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Pudge loses 22 pounds...
I'm really not comfortable with the whole witch hunt thing. Pudge does look skinnier, and that is a lot of weight he lost, but he never looked jacked like a Giambi or Canseco. I'm kind of surprised no one's gotten on Arod given the fact that he is now in New York and saw his home run totals drop from 57, to 47, to 36. Like Pudge though, Arod has never looked roided up to me, but whatever. People are going to try to seperate the cheaters from the non-cheaters so I guess its only natural.
I'm ready to put the steroid thing in the past. Well, I suppose like everyone I'm curious about what Bonds looks like and how he, Giambi, and the rest will perform next year, but I'm ready to just start talking baseball again.Last edited by Misfit; 02-19-2005, 11:33 PM.Comment

Re: Pudge loses 22 pounds...
As some of you have stated-he's getting older, and he's a Catcher, which is a physically demanding position. Losing weight may have been a good idea, being lighter could help avoid knee problems down the road.
As for Pudge and 'roids: he has only reached 30 HR's in a season once ('99), Mike Piazza, Javy Lopez and even Todd Hundley have put up better power numbers than Rodriguez has, so i'm skeptical about Pudge being juiced.
I'm just waiting for Canseco to say Walt Weiss was a juicer.Comment
