    About the Red Sox comments

Obviously as a huge Yanks fan... I'm gonna hate whatever the Red Sox say about us.

Right now as I hear Nixon, Schilling, Millar, Wells, etc line up and take thier shots at A-Rod... all I am thinking is... I couldnt agree more.

But honestly, do they really need to spell it out that A-Rod hasnt earned his pinstripes yet, and Jeter is the face of the Yankees? Do they really think no one else knows that?

They are the World Champions meaning they've earned their right to be confident going into the season. I don't think it gives them the right to take shots at their opponents before anything has even started. I have no problen with smack talking, but some of the things they've said like Nixon calling A-Rod a clown, and Millar saying that A-Rod's salary doesn't qualify him to be a Yankee.

Why is another team worrying so much about whose a Yankee and who isnt? Shouldnt they have more important things to do like prepare for the season, not sit around and evaluating each Yankee's status as a true Yankee?

Really, if they want to be showing hate for the Yankees, at least they should be saying things that they have a right to speak about, like A-Rod's joke of a slap at Arroyo.

Other than that, they should keep their mouths shut, and stop talking about "Whose a Yankee" and who isn't.

I mean... all along it wa said that the only way to get out of the Yankees shadow was for them to win the WS. Now that they have, their just making themselves seem desperate by taking shots at the Yankees about things they shouldnt even concern themselves with. Leave the "true Yankee" talk to the NY media, not the Red Sox clubhouse.

for one thing, i think it's sad that the Sox have to start "spewing" so early.. one bad play last year & everyone now says he's "not a Yankee".. i just love how a guy who isn't even a lock for the Sox (yes, Mr. Mantei, i do mean you) start mouthing off..the guy on the FAN responded by saying that he thought he was dead... I'm a Met fan but man, this is starting to get out of hand now.. (but it is saying something where no Yankee is coming to the aid of A-Rod)

Well, if I recall correctly, all of this began when Trot Nixon took exception to A-Rod proclaiming how work ethid was tougher than other players because he was "up at 7am when others players are sleeping or taking their children to school." So, the whole thing just sorta boiled over from there. That's where Nixon threw in his piece about A-Rod not living up to the Yankee standard like Bernie, Jeter, and Posada.

Well, really, it all started when Arroyo hit Rodriguez on his elbow pad with a 86 MPH sinker. A-Rod then proceded to try to stick his nose in the rivalry and talk about how great he is, and here we are today.

I don't know where you got Mantei dissing A-Rod from, as heres a quote from the Providence Journal from Matt Mantei on A-Rod.

Get the latest breaking news, sports, entertainment and obituaries in Providence, RI from The Providence Journal.

"I played (Class) A ball with A-Rod. A couple of years later I saw him and he didn't know who I was. He big-timed me. But he does a lot of chairty work, so I have nothing to say against him," he added.

"Mantei, who was an injured Diamondback when Arizona snatched the World Series crown from the Yankees in 2001, admits he has no love for the Yankees. He also weighed in on<!--B-->Randy Johnson and <!--B-->Alex Rodriguez.

"Everybody wants to beat the Yankees. That's the bottom line. In every game against them there's a little more adrenaline. I don't like the Yankees. I don't think anybody does, except the Yankees. I was rooting for Boston (in the 2004 ALCS)," said Mantei, alluding to the team's salary structure and collection of All-Stars.

"I think New York is a tough fit for Randy," added Mantei of the dominant 6-foot-10 left-hander who pushed for a trade to the Yankees. "He doesn't like the media. He doesn't like fans. He doesn't like anybody. I love him dearly, and I wish him the best.

normally you'd tell the Red Sox to act like they've been there before, but they haven't been here (season after winning WS) in forever, so they don't know what to do I'd give it a little time, the Red Sox just don't want to lose that chip on their shoulder, I would assume it's kinda tough motiviating a team early in the season after they won it all.

This is all a huge friggin' joke. All of them should start acting like professionals and get over themselves.

Everyone wants to dogpile on ARod about not "earning his pinstripes", yet both teams have their fair share of first year players both last year and this year. Why anyone would bring this up in today's day and age of free agency and trade-deadline blockbusters is beyond me.

It mostly sounds like the Red Sox feel like they've finally earned the right to talk smack now that they have one championship to match up with the Yankess twenty-six.
