Re: Braves close to re-signing Tim Hudson

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. - Braves pitcher Tim Hudson is expected to sign a four-year contract extension worth at least $45 million Tuesday, and not a day too soon.

March 1 is the deadline Hudson gave the Braves to get the extension done, and a person close to the negotiations said Braves general manager John Schuerholz and the pitcher's agent were still discussing final details Monday night.

None of the three or four points still being negotiated was considered a potential deal-breaker. The extension would have at least one additional vesting option year tied to innings pitched.

              Wow.

Cant believe he didn't hire Boras and get a $15M+ 5-7 year deal done.

Braves are getting an absolute steal. Especially considering the extremely high demand for SP's.

Re: Braves close to re-signing Tim Hudson

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. -- Tim Hudson has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Atlanta Braves, a deal worth close to $12 million annually for the former 20-game winner.

"It's good to get it done," said Hudson, who didn't want to say anything more until the team made an official announcement, which was expected at around 1 p.m. after their morning workout.

The deal was completed late Monday, and includes a vesting option year tied to innings pitched.
