That's why I bought tickets to the Dodgers Jays series in Toronto. Lol

Crazy how much rumors can impact things.

Hopefully if Ohtani doesn't sign that I can at least offload some tickets I got.

I’m just going off what Passan wrote:

Shohei Ohtani's contract has significant deferrals that include most of his salary -- an idea, a source said, that was Ohtani's. In deferring the money, it reduces the cost of the competitive-balance-tax hit and will allow the Dodgers to build a better team around him.

If the A’s were smart they would’ve paid Ohtani and asked MLB to play in Tokyo for the next 5 years to make up the money.

I could definitely be confused. Is the CBT the same thing as the "luxury tax?"

I swear there is something that uses the AAV of the whole contract as the "tax hit"

I think there's a maximum percentage that can be deferred that reduces the CBT count. And yes CBT is the luxury tax

According to Spotrac the deferred money counts in the years it is paid out.

I’m pretty sure I’m calling them Los Saudi Dodgers after they shattered all contract records in this sport.

If it's 700m, that's probably why the Jays didn't get him.

They were probably only willing to do 600.

Wasn’t it a Dodger website or something that broke the news yesterday that Ohtani signed with Blue Jays??

                              If so that’s just cold

Once you get to 600 million, aren’t you just going for it all like Elaine vs Sue Ellen Mischke?

You’re at 600 million already. What’s the difference you’ve already entered another stratosphere of money? Just do what Texas A&M football does and find another booster to off-set your ridiculous spending.
