Yep it's a very corporate logo compare:

    Orca Bay

    Vancouver Canucks

Hmmmmm they really do look similar in some ways

Well, soccer is more of a grind on their bodies than baseball is, so his argument is pretty lame.

40 years ago, players would have loved to do this, and because they pitched so much more it wouldnt have bothered them.

I really find it humorous that the more players are held back and coddled from the way they were back in the 40s-70s, there have been way more injuries in less innings pitched.

Good point about soccer. Players in Europe play not only in their domestic league, but also (if they're on a good team) against various European teams in Champions League/UEFA cup matches, not to mention qualifiers/friendlies/tournaments representing their country!

I think it'd be great if MLB held it smack dab in the middle of the season. Just take a few weeks in July and have it then. I don't think March would be a good time at all, as the players are nowhere near in peak shape.

What about in October? It could consist of players not on play off teams. It would hamstring some countries but giving up three weeks of the baseball season seems like a bit much. Thats either a lot of double headers or playing more games earlier or later in which case its already cold enough in April and October.

Since this is an MLB sanctioned idea I don't think October will ever happen. I doubt MLB wants their own initiative competing against the playoffs and World Series.

I thought about that but then they could probably juggle the scheduling if they wanted.

Yeah I had thought about October too but running it concurrently with the MLB postseason would turn it into a pretty minor event, I think, just because the baseball world is focused on the MLB postseason in the fall. But, that is what they do for the World Hockey Championships, as they take place every year during the first round of the NHL playoffs.

Perhaps MLB could reduce the schedule to 154 games or something in order to have the World Cup in July and not have the regular season extend to mid-October. Just a thought anyway, and it would be only every 4 years.
