Yeah I had thought about October too but running it concurrently with the MLB postseason would turn it into a pretty minor event, I think, just because the baseball world is focused on the MLB postseason in the fall. But, that is what they do for the World Hockey Championships, as they take place every year during the first round of the NHL playoffs.

Perhaps MLB could reduce the schedule to 154 games or something in order to have the World Cup in July and not have the regular season extend to mid-October. Just a thought anyway, and it would be only every 4 years.

Seinfeld Season 4 .. out on DVD May 17!

Gagne makes some valid points in his argument, and I have to agree with him.

Really the only time that it could logically work would be in the middle of the all-star break, as Sportsman suggested. Otherwise nobody would be willing to go due to the reasons Gagne stated, and we would end up seeing a bunch of bench warmers and minor leaguers playing.

It would sure be an awesome event to see, if all of the best players attended and were at the peak of their games. However, I think the only way that would happen would be if the event was held in the middle of the season.

I wouldn't mind the All-Star Break lasting a week. Throw in 8 teams, 7 games, 3 days. You'd have 6 days worth of All-Star Break. It might be too long, but I wouldn't mind seeing something like that.
