    Best Shortstop of Each Division

Just to stir things in the MLB forums before the season starts, post who is the best shortstop for each division. Biasness accepted.

    AL West: Michael Young
    AL Central: Carlos Guillen
    AL East: Miguel Tejada
    NL West: Khalil Greene
    NL Central: Jack Wilson
    NL East: Jimmy Rollins

Jimmy Rollins over Rafael Furcal? Miguel Tejada over Derek Jeter? Those are the only two I would change.

I like Jack Wilson but if Nomar is healthy it isnt even close.

Derek Jeter isn't that great defensively. There were rumors when Arod was acquired that he would eventually supplant Jeter at short, and Derek would move to second. His range and arm are average. He just has a knack for making big plays.

I was going to say the ones that would be up for debate would be Rollins vs. Furcal and Wilson vs. Nomar. Rollins vs. Furcal is a lot closer than I would have thought. Both have put up very similar numbers and both are good defenders.

I see what you're saying, but Jeter has every intangible that alot of other players dont have. That counts for a lot, too.

"He just has a knack for making big plays."

And that alone is why I would rather have Jeter at SS instead of any AL East shortstop.

Oh and to answer the original question...

                            AL East: D. Jeter
                            AL Central: C. Guillen
                            AL West: M. Young
NL East: J. Rollins by the slimmest of margins
                            NL Central: N. Garciaparra
                            NL West: K. Greene
