      2021 Blue Jays: 2nd in H, 20th in BB, 1st in HR, 30th in K
      2022 Blue Jays: 1st in H, T13th in BB, 7th in HR, 25th in K
      2023 Blue Jays: 7th in H, T11th in BB, 16th in HR, 24th in K

      2021 Yankees: 23rd in H, 1st in BB, T6th in HR, 6th in K
      2022 Yankees: T16th in H, 1st in BB, 1st in HR, 13th in K
      2023 Yankees: 29th in H, 8th in BB, 9th in HR, 11th in K

Also, whether through coincidence or an unexpected side effect of SkyDome renovations, the Jays' hitting just cratered at home last season.

2021 Blue Jays: .822 OPS at home, .771 OPS on road
2022 Blue Jays: .760 OPS at home, .759 OPS on road
2023 Blue Jays: .724 OPS at home, .766 OPS on road

So pretty much the same team on the road the last 3 seasons. BTW, since 1989 Toronto has hit better at home 31 out of 34 seasons, usually with huge splits, and the 3x they hit better on the road, the numbers were more or less even. 2023 was the 1st time in Jays history that they hit significantly worse at Rogers Centre/SkyDome. I sure hope Shatkins & co. took a long look at why.
I was making more fun of the idea of the Jays naming Don Mattingly "offensive co-ordinator" and the dozens of articles out of spring training that this team was going to have a different offensive philosophy. (I'm not sure how that's going to pan out because this team isn't built to terrorize pitchers on the basepaths like the way Arozarena ran wild in the seventh inning). Obviously, too small a sample size to judge the offense this year.

I also think it's too small a sample size after just one season to determine how the changes to Rogers Centre effect the Jays offense.

By the way the 2021 home OPS stats you cited are skewed by the fact the Jays played home games in Florida and Buffalo that season.

Ah, gotcha. I try to avoid the "He's in the best shape of his life!" Sportsnet propaganda when I can.

Same, but the perception is there. Wasn't it one of the main reasons Chapman didn't want to return?

Good point, I should have separated them. Even taking that into account though, the Jays still had way better numbers in Rogers Centre in 2021 than they did the next two years while their hitting on the road pretty much stayed the same.

        Dunedin: .840 OPS
        Buffalo: .833 OPS

Guy is a punk, but I'm in a Whatsapp group for fantasy and I had a Mets fan not only cheering this but said they should do it again today. Wut?

Give me a break. I didn't think the slide was anything to get worked up about, but all 30 teams would have had "trashy" fans cheering if they threw at someone that they thought made a dirty play

Yep - painting with quite a broad brush never really works. Mets fans are great…they’ve had to be to still be fans.

What the Mets need is a really good enema, maybe an exorcism too.

With Stearns running the team, if the goal is to put together a team like the Brewers but with more payroll I can get behind that. They aren't flashy but they play really good baseball.

The Dodgers' Pitchcom calls were coming through Kike Hernandez's mic while the broadcast booth was talking to him during the 2nd inning.
