Well, so did Drew. He's still considered "the best college baseball player ever" by a lot of people.

Re: Angels End Attempt to sign Weaver

I think too many people put too much blame on the agent of a player.

          A) The Player PAYS the agent to get him a deal HE wants. Not vice versa
          B) The player always has the option of accepting or declining an offered contract
          C) Sometimes I can see an agent saying 'you're worth more than 4 Mil,' but again the player is the one who signs on the dotted line!!!

I put 100% blame on Weaver. I dont believe he was worth the 8 Mil he was asking, and I commend the Angels for saying look kid you had a great season in COLLEGE and this is whats on the table....take it or leave it. I hate when clubs give in to the demands of greedy KIDS who have not proven a thing at the major league level.

This is the reason I cant watch or respect the likes of John Elway, Eli Manning, JD Drew, or Jared Weaver.

Not signed and they're reporting they may give up just as the Angels did with Weaver. Heard it on ESPN radio the same day the weaver anouncement was made

Wow, so then I must applaud KT and his decision for once... for now that is. I'll be interested in where these guys are drafted this season.

BTW, you are correct, Boras is his agent. One reason why the Padres didn't go after him.
Are you talking about Brien Taylor, that Yankees prospect?
Threw 101mph, blew out his shoulder in a bar fight after getting some big contract from NY, and we've never heard from him since.

Nah, I confirmed it earlier, Mr. Harrington, but hey, there's another example there.

GOSH! This is an outrage, people are wanting more money than they are worth! Kids even! What has become of our perfectly ordered society where everyone shares their wealth with their neighbors who are down on their luck. Who knew money held such a special power over us?

I don't really feel bad for the owners who give in to Scott Boras either, it's not like they're living on peanuts. It's the owner's own fault that Boras asks for so much, the owners are the ones setting the market anyways (for the most part). Owners could just not pay the players, and they are still billionares. The players meanwhile, well if they don't get paid, it's not much they can do. But no, the Owners want that extra money that the players generate.

Greed makes the world go 'round. It's what makes us humans (except for the ability to talk, walk upright, and all that junk).
