Nah, he over manages at times. Not to mention he's had great talent to work with (but a manager should be able to do well with great talent).

I was just saying is there a comparable coach in the NFL that is like a Torre (MLB) or Jackson (NBA) that has had the amount of success(luck) as to get great players year in and year out and never have to bring teams out of mediocricy ala Larry Brown(NBA)
I knows its off thread topic but just an interesting questionNCAA Football
USC Trojans
NFL Football
Buffalo Bills
San Francisco 49ers
MLB Baseball
Los Angeles Angeles of Anahiem
Atlanta Braves
NHL Hockey
Los Angeles KingsComment

Re: Tony La Russa: greatest manager of our generation?
Bobby Cox in my opinion, and then Joe Torre. LaRussa, well, his 8 straight World Series loses kinda put a damper on things for me.Comment

Re: Tony La Russa: greatest manager of our generation?
I think it HAS to be Bobby Cox and Joe Torre at the top 2 positions, in no specific order.
Also, an honorable mention would be Dusty Baker. The guy most always keeps his teams in the thick of it, and he plays a good game of baseball.Comment
