So what? Guy don't sign autographs... big deal!

The guy is the best hitter in baseball, he's having another great offensive season, including playoffs... if SF Wins, I all but guarantee he'll get MVP. Unless someone else puts up some sick numbers in the series... like goes 25 for 25 or something.

Despite Giants having a lot of talent, I honestly don't think they'd be where they are without Barry.

This coming from a Pittsburgh native. I've been raised to hate the guy, but you know what.... if I had his ability, I'd be an arrogant *** too. Especially when you've been under-rated for years and years.

Might sound like a meanie, but I don't care if he pimpslaps his grandma three times a day, if the guy puts up the numbers he does, I'll pick him for my team.

        Heelfan,
I don't like guys that are *******s to kids that want autographs...that's the quickest way I can be turned against a sports figure. Sure they don't have to sign [censored], but why wouldn't they given the fact that it's the fans that continue to get raped with *******s like Bonds making unthinkable money every year. Too many good guys in sports to waste time on a deadbeat like Bonds. He might be the best right now, that's debatable, but there's a right way and a wrong way to conduct yourself and Bonds has always done it the wrong way. It's not really hear say anyway, the guy worked for the Giants for 6 years and I've heard other people, even ESPN guys say Bonds is an [censored].

As for Vick, I got nothing against him. I just don't think he is worthy of the handle "The Second Coming" that everyone is putting on him. He hasn't proven [censored] yet, and when and if he does, I'll be the first one to acknowledge it. You picked two examples of players I made negative posts about...did you miss the ones I made about Kordell Stewart? Do I have to kiss everyone's *** that someone makes a post about? Don't we need someone to play devil's advocate with these guys? There are a lot of guys in sports I like, too many to list here. I can list the ones I don't like on one hand, though and unfortunately Bonds is on that list along with Iverson, Sprewell, Ricky Henderson and a few others that I won't mention now. Message boards are opinions, I listen to yours without criticizing you, can't you give me the same respect?

No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?

I do respect your opinion, I am just saying that you shouldn't hate someone based on here say. I'm sure athletes sign autographs all the time. And the second they turn someone down, they are labled an *** hole. I haven't seen Barry do anything horrible. Now Albert Belle, that is an A$$ hole.

These guys wouldn't be making the kind of money they are making if it wasn't for the fans. In my opinion, they have an obligation to those same fans whether that means signing an autograph, or just not being a jerk. Bonds has always proven himself to be a jerk, that being the sole reason he was never given as much respect as he deserved as a ball player. Now that his greatness is being acknowledged, he continues to be a jerk, only now his reason is that he has been disrespected for so long. The guy creates a never ending circle for himself, and it's his own fault. Just look at his homeruns. His team is down 8-1 and he still sits there and admires his own home run. Note to Barry: There's still no I in team.

I get excited everytime I hit a HR regardless of the score. I know I would try and sign as many autographs as possible though. But there are times when you have to say No. I don't look at athletes as role models, all I know is Bonds is one hell of a baseball player.

The hatred for Bonds continues to amaze me. So he doesn's sign autographs, it would be nice if he did, but I can understand not wanting to, with all the people who just want your autograph to make money off of it. Even the little kids are more concerned with how much everything is worth now.

Look at all the crap Terrell Owens got for signing an autograph.

Re: SHOULD BARRY BONDS WIN THE WS MVP IF?.........

                      Mizzourah.. I only half-meant that...

I've played for teams where I totally outplayed people and got bumped around, benched, the whole nine... and if I make a mistake (which happens) I got bigger criticism that other people have had for making the smae mistakes or bigger ones... which is basically what Barry's got going on... a mediocre player refuses to sign an autpgraph, it's because he's tired, or wants to live his life normally for even a day... but when Bonds refuses an autograph, it's because he's an ***.. not fair, in no way to him...

And for every one thing he does "bad" (whatever people feel like deeming that) gets like 20 minutes of news time on Sportscenter, and every good thing gets like 1 minute.

There is single-handedly nothing more frustrating to a sports player that gets ripped by the fans after you put your heart into your game, and watch you under a microscope and expect you to be more than human and not make mistakes, or have humanistic traits, like "a bad day" or "grumpy moods"...

So my statement I said, I didn't mean just the ability alone would make me arrogant... it's kinda all that i mentioned above that would cause that combined..

I can't remember the game, but a few years ago, in the NFL, one team was getting blown out by like 35 points... a guy on their team scored a touchdown with maybe 2 or 3 minutes left in the game, and did an outrageous endzone dance. A player on the winning team ran up to him, turned him towards the scoreboard, and showed him what was up.

Barry is that guy dancing in the endzone to me... he's a great player, he does great things for baseball, but sometimes you want to point him towards the scoreboard and laugh at him.

The home run thing to me is a non-issue, he does what he always does, it's probably just habit, not even thinking about the score.

Like Heel said, I don't even know the guy, so I won't judge him.

You're correct. I have never met the man. I am only going by what just about every sports writer has said, not to mention the many testimonials I have heard from people who actually met him. I'm not debating the fact that they have to say no to autographs sometimes. I'm saying that there is a tactful, pleasant way to do that, and from what I've heard, Bonds doesn't. It really doesn't matter whether the kid is going to go sell the autograph or not anyway. These guys are making millions off the fans. I don't think the $10 or $20 that a kid might make off an autograph is that big a deal. Who knows. Maybe he's the nicest guy in the world away from the game. The guy is definitely talented on the field, that's for sure. I've never seen anyone take over a game like he can. I keep asking myself when this transformation occured. He was always a very good player. When and how did he turn into such a monster at the plate? What's really funny is that just a few years ago, Mark McGuire was the big thing. Bonds is way past where McGuire was. His plate discipline and knowledge is just incredible.

                                Guru,

I agree that you can see things a person does and think they are a jackass, however I realize that I don't really know the guy whereas some people seem to take it personal and develop great hatreds for some athletes.

                                Casey,

Careful about taking the sportswrites words for much, if the guy doesn't give them an interview they can really skew the publics view of that guy.

I have seen interviews with Bonds where he has been very cordial and charasmatic and other times he seems pretty sullen.
